Pluto in Aquarius and You – prepare for transformation!

Webinar – 7pm on Thursday 23rd March (AEDT) via Zoom

2023 will provide us with a glimpse of our new collective future with Pluto moving into Aquarius on 23rd  March (AEDT).

Pluto is the astrological archetype for transformation, regeneration, and rebirth. He symbolizes our need to penetrate to the core of existence, to face our fears and to resurrect a new more powerful being.

The zodiac sign of Aquarius is future orientated, it is concerned with innovation and detachment from the old. Aquarius carries the need to be independent from tradition, to reform and become free and original.

Aquarius being an Air sign is concerned with the intellect, the mind and our conscious awareness of life.

Pluto will urge us to transform this area of our lives: collectively and personally.

The Lord of the Underworld will retrograde back into Capricorn from June 2023 until He settles into Aquarius from January 2024 for the next 19 years!

Pluto was last in the sign of Aquarius from 1777 to 1797, and the world underwent major transformation: the old ways of rulership radically changed with the American War of Independence and the French Revolution.

How we lived changed with the transformation of manufacturing: no longer did we live rural lives, producing what we needed in harmony with the land, but became isolated from nature as we moved into cities to meet the needs of the industrial revolution and capitalism.

Pluto is currently coming to the end of His journey through Capricorn, where since 2008 He has forced us to reconsider similar concerns:

Who is in control?

What is power – literally in terms of energy sources/resources and governments etc.

How is power used to manipulate us?

Face our fears – mortality and the value of life.

And much, much more……

During this webinar, we will explore how the Pluto archetype may play out for the world, and then we will take a look at our natal charts* to gauge how this may be experienced on a personal level and gain some invaluable tools to navigate the times ahead.

This 2 hour webinar is limited to a maximum of 6 participants.

Via Zoom, this  webinar will take place at 7pm on Thursday 23rd March (AEDT).

If you can’t attend live, a link to the video will be available within 24 hours.

Cost $25.

Please email me to secure your place: halcyontasmania@gmail.com

*On receipt of payment I will draw up your natal chart that will be used in the webinar and will email you a copy to keep. For privacy purposes I will use your first name only.

Adventuring through life – connecting with our fellow explorers: Full Moon in Sagittarius.

On 14th June 2022 at 9:51pm (AEST), there will be a Full Moon in Sagittarius.

Recall that a Full Moon occurs when the Sun and Moon oppose each other across the Zodiac.

Here we have the Moon in 23°25’Sagittarius in 180° opposition to the Sun in 23°25’Gemini.

A Full Moon symbolises a time of review and refinement, illuminating that which we started at the last  New Moon in 09°Gemini on the 30th May.

As I wrote then, the New moon offered us an opportunity to ‘make up our minds’, now the Full Moon reveals how that opportunity is working out.

With the Moon illuminated, we can take stock of the progress since we ‘made up our minds’ at the end of May.

With Sagittarius being a mutable fire sign this Full Moon offers us the flexibility to make visionary changes to the practical plans of the last New Moon.

Here with the Moon under the rulership of Jupiter, we have the opportunity to find faith, confidence and optimism in what we created at the time of the Gemini New Moon.

Here we have the confidence to take stock and make the decision to adventure onwards with our creation or adapt it to provide more meaningful growth towards our search for ’truth’ – the ‘truth’ that nurtures us and the brings emotional security.

This Full Moon may see us truely finding faith in the way in which we communicate with others (a ‘flavour’ of the Gemini New Moon of May) or perhaps we discover that we were overly optimistic and have to rejig how we interact socially?  All with the purpose of establishing emotional security as the basis to adventure through life.

With the Full Moon being in square to Neptune in 25°Pisces we may find that things have been a little uncertain or illusionary, but now at the time of this lunation, we have the confidence to face uncertainty and take action to transcend confusion and see clearly that which may have limited our experience of life.

Saturn being retrograde in 25°Aquarius brings support to this Full Moon, offering us the opportunity to draw on our inner resources to mature and establish a sure foundation from which to utilise the Full Moon’s confidence and optimism in our capacity to confidently communicate with our fellow travellers on this adventure through life!

If you would like to explore how astrology can help you reveal and activate your inner resources, my practical learn astrology course “Using astrology to live life to the fullrecommencing in July may be just what you need?

Making Astrology Practical: Saturn Retrograde.

As of 7:47am (AEST) 5th June 2022, Saturn will station (stand still) in readiness to ‘turn’ retrograde in 25°Aquarius

This is an apparent motion – the planet does not really flip and rotate in the opposite direction!

Retrogrades occur when from our viewpoint on Earth, we appear to be overtaking another planet that is slowing down on its natural cycle through the zodiac.

Think of when you overtake another car on the highway – as you pass ahead, the other car seems to move backwards – it retrogrades!

All planets (aside from the Moon – referred to as a ‘planet’ in astrology) retrograde.

Indeed, we have just come out of a Mercury retrograde as of today, Pluto remains retrograde, and later this month Neptune retrogrades. Later this year we will see Jupiter rand Uranus retrograde, as well as undergo two more periods of Mercury retrograde.

Periods of planetary retrograde movement are not uncommon, or anything to ‘fear’!

Saturn, known to the ancient Greeks as Cronus, we see Saturn as the Lord of Karma, the God of Time and even more esoterically, the Dweller on the Threshold, through whom we find freedom in our own self-understanding.

This is important to remember as  in astrology as He is much maligned as the ‘Great Malefic’ – the cause of ‘bad things’, whilst His son, Jupiter is the ‘Great Benefic’ – the cause of good things.

Where Jupiter expands, Saturn restricts.

Liz Greene wrote a fantastic book about “Saturn: A new look at an old Devil” in which she states, “human beings do not earn free will except through self-discovery, and they do not attempt self-discovery until things become so painful that they have no other choice”!

Saturn can foster such self-discovery through the aspects He makes to our natal chart as He transits the Zodiac.

Saturn tasks us to master ourselves – to “earn free will” through taking responsibility and becoming accountable for our own actions. He urges us to build a self of integrity, utilising our own inner resources, and committing to the goal of individuation and authenticity.

Traditionally Saturn rules Aquarius (given in modern times to Uranus), and here we find Him looking to the future, being innovative and inventive – planting the seeds for our maturation and mastery.

So, let’s be practical, here we have Saturn (the planet of Mastery) focusing His attention on the future (Aquarius), and He is going back over (retrograde) ground He has already stimulated (25° – 18° Aquarius, 27th February to 5th June).

What was happening to you during this period?

What was happening in the world during this time?

Events, plans, and decisions that we made then are once again under the gaze of Saturn.

Being retrograde, this gaze is more piercing and internalising. We are getting a second opportunity to review these events, plans and decisions, and to consider how they influence our future integrity, accountability and resilience to achieve our goals.

Where does 18° to 25° Aquarius fall in your natal chart?

What House or Houses do you find 18° to 25° Aquarius?

Are there any planets at 18° to 25° Aquarius in your natal chart?

Knowing this information will reveal where Saturn is directly influencing your life, and having this information means you can align yourself more readily and greatly benefit from this period of introspection and review.

Likewise, retrograde Saturn will challenge you to manifest change in the area of life reflected by 18° to 25° Leo, Taurus or Scorpio in your natal chart. Again, check your chart to see which Houses and planets are influenced.

Saturn stations (stands still) on 24th October (AEST) and recommences His forward motion (direct) through 18° to 25° Aquarius onwards to Pisces in March 2023.

From 24th October 2022 to 27th January 2023, Saturn will return to the same ‘place’ in the zodiac (18° to 25° Aquarius) that He stimulated directly between 27th February to 5th June, and revisited from June to October this year.

These dates and 18° to 25° Aquarius have undergone/are undergoing a Saturn ‘intensive’ and to know this helps us to work with Saturn and become more accountable for our future integrity, to strengthen and find confidence in our own internal resources, to mature and become wise!

So, how does this make astrology practical?

Simply note the dates of Saturn’s movements (as indicated above) in your diary and be ‘alert’ to His influence as you plan your life.

Knowing your natal chart is key to understanding and planning such movements of the planets, for example,

Where you find Saturn in your natal chart is where you can ‘master’ life.

The zodiac sign He is in is the ‘method’ He uses to help you master life (for example, in Aquarius, Saturn tasks you with be disciplined yet innovative in your approach to ‘mastery’).

The House reflects where these ‘lessons’ will occur during your lifetime. For example, 18° to 25° Aquarius may fall in your 8th House of Inner Resources and Hidden Talents uncovered through intense and deep interpersonal relationships – this will be where transiting Saturn is having His influence!

You will know that during the dates above, Saturn will ‘energise’ this area of your life and that events will stimulate your potential to ‘master’ life.

Being prepared for Saturn’s transit through your 8th House in 2022 – 2023, you could plan to enhance your life – to find mastery in actively working on 8th House matters – transforming yourself emotionally, spiritually and materially.

I hope this helps show how astrology can be practical – how we can apply astrology to our daily life to find maturity and confidence in our Self and  ‘master’ our life!

Take a look at my home page if you’d like to explore this Saturn Retrograde and your birth chart through an astrological reading: what does this mean for you? How can you align yourself to take advantage of Saturn retrograde?

Making Astrology Practical: Mars in Aries.

As I wrote this post a few days ago, Mars made ingress into Aries and the start of a new Mars 2 year cycle around the zodiac: a ‘Mars Return’ if you like – just as the Sun returns every year to the exact spot in the zodiac on your date of birth – your ‘Solar Return’ – your birthday.

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and it takes Mars approximately 2 years to complete a cycle.

For me personally, and I am sure for many you, this is a significant event as I have Mars at 03°Aries in the 10th House of my natal chart.

On 29th May, transiting Mars and Jupiter were at this point conjunct my natal Mars.

Mars rules Aries and here He is especially energised to assert His will, to act decisively and assert Himself to ‘win’ what it is He desires to achieve.

This is the Mars principal – to ‘win’!

Look to you own natal chart and where you find Mars you see how in this lifetime you can manifest your success: the House reflects where you will find the challenges in life to manifest your success; the Sign identifies which ‘methods’ are best utilised to bring about success.

For example, if you have a Virgo Mars in the 6th House, you will find ’success’ in this lifetime through striving towards a sense of perfection and pride in living the best everyday life you can, from maintaining good physical health to establishing rewarding work.

Using this example, if you were experiencing your ‘Mars Return’, this would be an ideal time to reflect upon what it is that you need to do to feel more successful and that you are ‘winning’ in life.

For a Virgo Mars in the 6th House, a new health regime, a new job, or establishing a new household routine that frees you up to ‘perfect’ yourself a little more, could work well.

Personally, I am taking this ‘cosmic’ opportunity to refocus on what I set out to do when I started my astrology practice – to help others empower themselves through the insights of astrology – to make astrology practical and of everyday value to our lives.

I’ll focus my energy both on gaining new client’s, as well as expanding my astrological knowledge to help me offer more pragmatic assistance to these clients.

If we see this ‘Mars Return’ as the start of a new cycle of action to achieve success, we can apply the same ‘review’ methodology we use with the monthly lunar cycle:

  • The New Moon (the Moon and Sun are in conjunction at 0°) is the ‘birth’ of the idea, the planting of the ‘seed’ and the start of a new project.
  • The Quarter Moon (the Moon squares the Sun at 90°) is a time to build on what was started at the time of the New Moon; to review its progress and consolidate the project’s direction; this could be a time of challenge, where we may suffer doubt and have to do some work to keep the project on track.
  • The Full Moon (when the Sun and Moon are in opposition at 180°) provides us with opportunity to see our project come to fruition; the ‘light’ is shone upon it and we can reap what was sown, plan to continue to the end of the cycle, or abandon what we started!
  • The Last quarter Moon (here the Moon again squares the Sun having traveled 270° from the New Moon position) is the time when the project, now come to fruition, is reviewed with regards to the future – will it bear ‘seeds’ for a new project to commence at the coming New Moon?

So, we can simply do the same with the ‘Mars Return’:

  • The New Mars phase (transiting Mars and natal Mars are in conjunction at 0°) is the ‘birth’ of the idea – the planting of the ‘seed’.
  • The Quarter Mars phase (transiting Mars squares natal Mars at 90°) is a time to review its progress and make changes as necessary to see the ‘seed’ sprout and grow strong.
  • The Opposition phase (‘Full Mars’ just doesn’t sound right! When transiting Mars and natal Mars are in opposition at 180°) provides us with an opportunity to reap the rewards and see our project blossom – or not! A time to take stock and consider what to take with us into the future.
  • The Last quarter Mars phase is that ‘future’, where the ‘seeds’ of the past have come to fruition – full circle – and are ready to see us enter a new project or direction through which we seek to ‘win’ at life!

Of course, even if we don’t consciously engage with our ‘Mars Return’, that event occurs and stimulates our lives energetically on an archetypal level. It would be interesting to go back over the last few years and follow your life events following the ‘Return’ – did life get a ‘jolt’ of Mars energy and your drive for success take on a new impulse?

Aside from Mars and the Sun, we can review our Jupiter (12 year return) or our Saturn (29 year return), as well as Mercury and Venus returns (which vary between 1 to 1 and a bit years) to plan and review how our life is unfolding and how we can use these ‘returns‘ to be more successful at it!

So, can I help make astrology practical for you? And in doing so, help you find great ‘success’ and ‘win’ in life?

Do you have a project in mind and wonder when would be the best time to launch it?

Do you have a burning concern that never seems to resolve itself?

Do yo want to know the upcoming major planetary transits/patterns/cycles that will influence your life?

Do you want to be able to make plans that best suit your relationships, career, finances, health and education?

Astrology can assist with all these and more – feel free to email me to discuss or check out my homepage for more information about astrology and my practice.

An opportunity to ‘make up our minds’: New Moon in Gemini.

Today at 9:30pm (AEST) with the Sun and Moon conjunct at 09°Gemini, we will be experiencing a New Moon.

This New Moon in Gemini makes no aspects other than being conjunct the Fixed Star, Aldebaran in 10°Gemini.

Recall that New Moons offer us an enthusiastic, energised opportunity to begin something new.

A New Moon in Gemini suggests an opportunity to ‘make up our minds’, to adapt and consider the options available to us; to communicate and share ideas with others; be a little more sociable and establish a ‘light-heated’ mood.

Sounds great!

To get a feel for this New Moon we can look to the ruler of Gemini, Mercury, who at the time of this lunation remains retrograde, stationing direct on 3rd June.

Being retrograde, Mercury in 26°Taurus is tasking us with retrospection and reflection: reviewing how we have perceived the world and how acted relative to this perception since approximately 27th April this year (when He was moving directly through Taurus, and was at 26°Taurus).

So, at the time of this New Moon we can perhaps look within ourselves and consider , or perhaps re-consider, something we need to learn or communicate to others, sharing knowledge that connects us socially.

We can see that at this time Mercury is square Saturn, challenging us to use our ‘minds’ wisely, to communicate with integrity and maturity, to master our manner of communication and see it strengthen our self’s structure.

Being conjunct Aldebaran, one of the Four Royal Stars of our astrological forebears during the days of ancient Egypt, Sumer and Babylon, this New Moon has the potential to bring us “honour, intelligence, eloquence, steadfastness, integrity….” (Vivian Robinson [1923], The Fixed Star and Constellations in Astrology, p.120).

Here then, we have a New Moon that promises us great reward if we conceive to ‘make up our minds’ with integrity and establish greater connections with those around us.

I hope this New Moon provides you with a renewed urge to perceive and communicate creatively for the betterment of us all!

Take a look at my home page if you’d like to explore this New Moon and your birth chart through an astrological reading: what does this mean for you? How can you align yourself to take advantage of this New Moon?

Medusa’s Head, swamp gas and UFO’s!

Just some brief astrological musings about tomorrow’s US Congress – House Intelligence Subcommittee’s public hearing on the UFO phenomenon.

Currently referred to as UAP (unidentified aerial phenomenon), the US government has shown that they are taking the phenomenon seriously.

The US government has asserted that the phenomenon are real, with many leaked military videos showing these UAP’s performing technological feats that our known technology could not reproduce (take a look at the Tic-Tac videos).

The US government has not said where this technology comes from.

Will this be a moment of disclosure – will these UAP’s be acknowledged as not of this Earth?

Will they be acknowledged to be of an advanced technology, so far hidden from humanity?

Or, will this be the return of a new age of ridicule – Project Bluebook style – and have us believing that the phenomenon is nothing more than “swamp gas”?

The astrology of the start of the event is quite revealing!

The hearings commence at 9am on 17th May in Washington DC (11pm today for us in the Southern Hemisphere) when the Sun is at 26°36’ Taurus conjunct the fixed star Algol at 26°28’.

With the Sun in Taurus our collective life-force and sense of vitality is illuminated with a determined need to find stability, security and to have ready access to the resources that will provide these comforts.

Being in conjunction with Algol suggests they share a unity of function – they share a purpose and are motivated to achieve the same result.

Algol is called “The Medusa’s Head” and has some pretty negative astrological connotations – principally, being a harbinger of sudden and often violent endings – being “the most evil star in the heavens” (Vivian Robinson [1923], The Fixed Star and Constellations in Astrology, p.124)!

Will we be told that the UAP phenomenon is a threat to humanity? Will a ‘War of the World’s’ panic unfold?

Umm… my experience of astrology is that it plays out in the archetypal realms of human experience, more so than literal occurrences.

So, here we could look to the Medusa myth and see that following her beheading, Perseus (the hero) uses the head as a directed energy source –  a weapon to subdue his enemies – recall, that Medusa’s stare could turn you to stone!

Interestingly, the mythology also alludes to Medusa being pregnant to Poseidon at the time of her death at the hands of Perseus, and from her dying body Pegasus came forth – a unique winged horse!

A UAP?

So, could we awaken tomorrow with news from the US that advanced technology – propulsion especially – exists and our reliance on depleting the Earth’s resources for power is over?

I hope so!

But after all, we may be told it’s just ‘swamp gas’!

If this topic interests you, check out my previous blog on the subject.

The public hearing can be viewed live.

Conquer fear and gain serenity: Full Moon in 26°Libra.

This Full Moon occurs at 4:55am (AEST) on 17th April (16th April 6:55pm UTC for our Northern Hemisphere friends).

A Full Moon in Libra grants us the great opportunity to review how we value peace and harmony in our world: as individuals; societies; cultures; countries; etc.

At this time the Sun illuminates our emotional needs and responses in relation to our requirement for safety and serenity based on a fair and just world. A world where we can all find a calm place to nurture our souls and live as authentic beings.

Libra provides such a cosmic energy: an energy to seek co-operation, diplomacy and peace for all sentient life.

This Full Moon reflects on the ‘seeds’ we sowed at the time of the New Moon in 11°Aries a couple of weeks ago (see: New Moon in Aries: Speak to the soul and heal yourself). Have these ‘seeds’ of courage and healing ‘sprouted’ and brought forth hope for a bountiful harvest?

Now at the Full Moon, we can take a moment to review our progress and see what works and what doesn’t – a time to fine-tune our belief systems and clear out that which hinders our onward path.

Helping us with this task will be Pluto in 28° Capricorn squaring the Full Moon. I saying ‘helping’ as squares generated friction and tension, but they manifest creative energy that we can utilise to build a successful outcome. This is shown by the red line here.

Here, Pluto is transforming how we see authority and those in power over us (He has been doing this since making ingress into Capricorn in 2008 and will remain until 2024), and at the time of this Full Moon I suggest He will be urging us to take a deep look at matters of control – what controls our sense of fear, and how does this prevent us from finding a harmonious and peaceful existence.

Maybe Pluto will reveal some hidden element of ourselves, our society, or those who hold positions of authority that hinders our capacity for a fair and peaceful world?

This is what Pluto does – He asks us to penetrate to the core of existence, to conquer our fears, and regain power and authority over our own existence.  From 30th April until 9th October this year, Pluto will be in retrograde motion and will be intensely focused at this point in the zodiac, and providing us with plenty of opportunity for us to evolve.

Here, at the time of the Full Moon, we have the opportunity to transform that which does not produce harmony, balance and peace!

Compassion, creativity and spirituality: Jupiter conjunct Neptune in Pisces.

For us in the Southern Hemisphere, Jupiter and Neptune meet at the same point in the zodiac at 23°53’ Pisces on Wednesday, 13th April 2022 at 12:42am (12th April at 3:42pm UTC for our Northern Hemisphere friends).

A Jupiter Neptune conjunction occurs approximately every 13 years.

In astrology, such a conjunction is considered the start of a new cycle: a synodic cycle where the ‘seed’ energy of the combination of these two planets coming together travels onwards, influencing our personal and global history in a unique manner.

Jupiter and Neptune last met in 2009 and in the sign of Aquarius, a year when Bitcoin came into existence, and Barack Obama became President of the United States.

When we look to Pisces, we can see that this conjunction last occurred in 18°13’ Pisces on 17th March 1856, 166 years ago!

Around that time in 1856, Europe was coming to an end of a 3 year war centred around the Crimea (Ukraine), a war that started around the right to faith (Jupiter) and then escalated into issues of land ownership, but the ‘real’ cause was never understood, indeed  it has been written that the war commenced due to a  “greater confusion of purpose1 (Neptune). This same author notes that the Crimean war was an example of  “notoriously incompetent international butchery2. Something we could probably say about all wars but a particularly pertinent statement given current world events!

A positive to come from this ‘butchery’ was the professionalisation of medicine needed to manage the injuries of war, especially that of nursing via such individuals as Florence Nightingale. Maybe, we will experience a renewal in healing as a result of current conflicts?

I see this conjunction in 2022, occurring in the sign of the zodiac that both planets rule as being the principal astrological event of 2022 and the ’seeding’ of a ‘potent’ Jupiter Neptune synodic cycle.

The Pisces archetype is a complex one of dissolution, blurring the edges of the material world, and pushing us towards the realms of the spiritual – the unified, inclusive world of wholeness, where we find unity with the whole. Pisces stimulates us to be compassionate, to express empathy and to inspire each other.

Neptune in Pisces tasks us to transcend the material and free ourselves of the limitations we impose on ourselves when we restrict our vision and awareness to the concrete physical world, divorced from one another.

Neptune can lead us to escapism and delusion when we fail to recognise that life is more than our personal ego’s.

When we fail to see the ‘big picture’ and live in disharmony with all creation, we delude ourselves and seek out things to keep us in a state of blissful ignorance.

Jupiter will reinvigorate our Pisces nature – we all have some aspect of Pisces in our ‘cosmic makeup’, and this will be a time when we will be prompted to seek the truth, to find faith in life, and renew our optimism in being alive.

As a whole, we can expect to see an increased interest in spirituality and creativity such as music and literature, stimulated by this Jupiter Neptune conjunction in Pisces.

I recall reading somewhere that people born with Jupiter in Pisces may express an “unconquerable faith”  in their beliefs and behaviours: “I am right you are wrong”; “I am doing God’s work”, etc. And, as we know from history, such attitudes lead to some terrible situations for those who hold opposing beliefs! This then, is a potential danger with this conjunction: ideologies run rampant!

With that said, if we focus on the ideal of unity and wholeness devoid of separation and differences, this conjunction may see humanity revel in a resurgence of compassion and empathy that leads us to a unified faith in being part of a universal family.

When Jupiter transits through Aries from May this year, we will all feel the urge to assert this new found faith and optimism, to create art and find unity with the whole!

New Moon in Aries: Speak to the Soul and Heal your Self!

Here in the Southern Hemisphere on Friday, 1st April at 5:24pm (AEDT) we have the first New Moon of the Astrological New Year in 11°Aries.

A New Moon is a time to sow the seeds for a new venture that sees our conscious awareness expand.

In Aries, this New Moon is about us: You and Me.

Aries is the first amongst equals in the zodiac, and as cardinal fire sign, initiates and pioneers our self expression: here we have the courage to exert our will to be.

With Chiron in 12°Aries, the ‘wounded-healer’ is conjunct this New Moon and as such, we have a fantastic opportunity to start a process of self-healing.

We will be energised with a motivating drive to seek the means to heal our wounds through our own resources. We can utilise our own will to cure ourselves of the ‘wounds’ that hold us back from expressing our authentic self out into the world.

And with Mercury in 09°Aries also in conjunction with the New Moon maybe it is time to go within and communicate with yourself – speak with your Soul to discover what it is that you need to heal your Self – that aspect of Being that reflects the Oneness of the Whole.

With this Mercurial conjunction, our intuition and empathy should aid both ourselves and those around us: what you find works for you could also be of aid to others suffering similar wounds – use the Aries energy to vocalise your Soul-based healing for all to hear!

If you know your natal (birth) chart, you will be able to see where this New Moon energy will manifest for you.

At 11° Aries, the New Moon will form a conjunction with any planets or points (such as your Midheaven) between 09° to 13° Aries. The energy of these planets will fuse with the New Moon and create a ’super planet’ that will be expressed in the House it falls in (remember that the House equates to an area of life, for example, the 4th House represents where you find nurturance, your roots, your home and family, etc)

If you have any planets or points (such as your Ascendent) between 09° to 13° Libra,  the New Moon will be in opposition, creating the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies involved.

Planets or points (such as the Nodes of the Moon) at 09° to 13° of Gemini or Aquarius will be in sextile to the New Moon, and will provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities for growth.

At 09° to 13° of Leo or Sagittarius, any natal planets or points will form a trine with the New Moon, facilitating a greater sense of harmony and flow, but if not worked with, these energies will lack the vitality there could bring.

If you have any planets or points (such as your Ascendent) between 09° to 13° of Cancer or Capricorn, this New Moon will form a square aspect and will potentially bring tense energies that will create a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth!

Take a look at my home page if you’d like to explore this New Moon and your chart through an astrological reading.

If astrology interests you, and you want to learn take a look at my popular learn astrology on-line course starting again in July 2022.

I hope the New Moon in Aries energises your Will to sow the healing seeds of authenticity, independence and freedom!

Happy Astrological New Year!

As a new start, I thought I’d try something a little different, and paint a potential picture for Tasmania’s year ahead.

Here I am using traditional techniques for reading the ingress chart of Aries at the commencement of the new astrological new year which occurs at the time the Sun ingresses (enters into) the sign of Aries at 00°: the Autumn Equinox for us in the Southern Hemisphere.

As I live in old Van Diemen’s Land, I thought it would be interesting and timely to review the ingress chart for Tasmania.

With Aquarius on the Ascendant being a Fixed Sign, the tradition is to accept this chart as an indication for the whole of the next 12 months, until the Aries ingress of 2023.

The Ascendant is the cusp of the 1st House, which here represents you and I, the Tasmanians, and the island itself.

Traditionally Aquarius is ruled by Saturn, with Uranus being the modern ruler. Here, we will stick with tradition for consistency, and find that Saturn is much exalted in this ingress chart being in the 1st House and in His own sign.

The 1st House has Mars and Venus conjunct, infusing a passion to assert things, such as the role of women in leading this island state. The Aquarius flavour will definitely bring radical change to how we prosper as an island State this year. Saturn will help us look to the future for structure and integrity in who we see ourselves as.

The 2nd House represents such matters as our financial security and with Mercury conjunct Jupiter, Tasmania may experience a surge in over optimistic promises that may not bring us the monetary stability we need.

Indeed, with Neptune in the 3rd House, we may discover that what we were told was really fiction! The Sun represents the Premier and as such, S/He will be focussed heavily on asserting themselves as the solution for our ills.

And it might be a tough time for those in power, as Uranus in the 4th House of the People will oppose the 10th House of Government, forcing a compromise between authority and individualism, the old and new, the way things are done and the way they could be done.

With the Moon in the 10th House, women will be the focal power and potentially the ‘seat of power’ in Tasmania this coming year.

The astrology suggests this will be a shock to Tasmanian patriarchal society!

Anyway, with Pluto in the 12th House, Tasmania can expect a transformation in power, and perhaps with women being ‘hidden’ for so long from places of power, this astrological new year may see the feminine rise to positions of control.

Regardless as to how this ‘story’ unfolds, interesting times are ahead – wherever you live in the world.

I wish you all a happy and fortuitous astrological new year!

Where are we heading – an overview of 2022

Before taking a quick look at the coming astrological year, I’d like to offer my thanks to all my clients and readers of my ramblings for making my 2021 a positive year of conscious evolution.

Through our interactions, I’ve come to see the world with fresh eyes!

In 2021, I’ve learnt to appreciate the importance of communication (North Node in Gemini) as a font of knowledge (South Node in Sagittarius), and I look forward to 2022, when the North Node in Taurus enhances my capacity to find the resources for my own survival within myself, whilst the South Node in Scorpio helps me to eliminate the need for material possessions to maintain that same sense of security.

In 2022, the themes of 2020-21 continue to play out with Pluto transiting through Capricorn, seeking to transform all aspects of what we conceive of as ‘authority’. We have the Saturn Uranus square still in orb throughout 2022. This tense aspect has been in play for much of 2021 and has challenged us to take action on such matters as the world’s resources, our finances, and the Earth’s climate. Enhancing the Pluto feeling of a need to ‘rebirth’ the ‘way we do things’, Saturn square Uranus adds the friction of ‘tradition’ versus ‘reform’ into our collective psyche!

An astrological highlight for 2022 is the transit of Jupiter through His traditional sign of rulership, Pisces, which commenced on the 29th December.

Pisces will transit the whole of Pisces’ 30° in quick fashion, making ingress into Aries on 11th May 2022, and then, due to retrograde motion, will renter Pisces on 22nd October until He leaves Pisces for 12 years and commences through the Zodiac in Aries once more.

With Jupiter in Pisces, we can expect to be reenergised with a sense of optimism and hopefulness for the future, and a collective desire for compassion and empathy towards each other.

We should see an upsurge in the desire to find meaning in being, a lift in our spiritual awareness and connectivity with all forms of life.

On 13th April 2022 we have Jupiter conjunct Neptune at 23°Pisces: the co-rulers of Pisces meet together in their own sign – potentially signifying a collective renewal of faith in our humanity.

This will be a fantastic opportunity to energise our transcendent dreams and visions for the future of a world come together with a common goal of experiencing the oneness of life and our interconnectedness of being!

When Jupiter transits through Aries we can take this inspirational goal forward with pioneering courage to see the ’seeds’ of faith in our spiritual unity sown and nurtured to fruition – maybe this is the spark we all need to find peace, harmony and a sense of purpose in the current world situation?

Obviously, there is more to the new astrological year: we start the year with Venus retrograde, have 4 periods of Mercury retrograde throughout 2022, and towards the end of the year we have Mars retrograde! And much more……

If you’d like to make the most of your 2022, I can help you plan ahead with a personalised yearly astrological forecast.

Would you like to know how your astrological year will unfold?

Knowing the upcoming major planetary transits/patterns/cycles and how they influence your birth chart will give you an advantage in 2022.

With a month by month guide, you will be able to plot the year ahead and make plans that best suit your relationships, career, finances, health and education.

By aligning yourself with the universal energies you will successfully navigate the year ahead!

Full Moon in Gemini – Lets talk about what really matters!

Our next lunation is a Full Moon in 27°28’Gemini on Sunday, 19th December 2021 at 3:35pm (AEST)/ Sunday, 19th December 2021 at 4:35am (GMT/UT).

Photo by Askar Abayev on Pexels.com

A Full Moon in Gemini affords us a great opportunity to review how we communicate.

And this Full Moon asks us to do this by analysing what have we learnt since the Sagittarius New Moon of 4th December?

Have we found wisdom and faith in our being? Have we gained a new philosophical approach to life? Did we find confidence and optimism to propel our journey to authenticity?

Now at the Full Moon, we can take a moment to review the knowledge we have gained, and see what works and what doesn’t – a time to fine-tune our belief systems and clear out that which hinders our onward path.

Being a Gemini Full Moon we can conduct this review with the aim of keeping that knowledge which has practical application. To retain that which fosters a curiosity to seek the connections that bring us a sense of wholeness.

Developing a Mercurial Mind – a mind that is free to seek information here, there and everywhere – explore and immerse ourselves in the emotional satisfying state of the inquiring mind!

How can we communicate that which we learnt from the previous New Moon in Sagittarius is the question here, and with the ruler of Sagittarius making an ‘easy opposition’ to this Full Moon, we can look to Jupiter for guidance.

Firstly, an ‘easy opposition’ is an aspect made by a planet, here we have Jupiter being in trine and sextile to either ends of a two planet opposition (the Full Moon is created by the Sun and Moon being in 180° opposition).

A trine is a 120° aspect and here with Jupiter in such an aspect to the Full Moon, we readily apply his optimism to our desires to broaden our awareness of living.

Being in sextile (60° aspect) to the Sun, Jupiter brings his confidence to our sense of individuality in a way that sees the Moon lit up with supportive energy to reveal our recently accumulated wisdom.

With Jupiter still in Aquarius, we can utilise his energy to project our accumulated wisdom for the betterment of the whole – a more humanitarian use of our knowledge, and a thoughtful application of our future hopes and wishes!

The other aspect I feel is going to ‘flavour’ this Full Moon is the conjunction between Venus and Pluto in quincunx to the lunation. Maybe a bit too much ‘astro-babble’, but what it tells me is that we have an opportunity to review and transform in a new light and from a different perspective, that which brings us comfort, harmony, and security.

What really matters – what do we really value? This something to review and discuss at the time of the Gemini Full Moon.

How we relate to others may not be working and the Full Moon could provide the ‘illumination’ needed to see what needs to go and what needs to stay so we can ‘rebirth’ the way in which we communicate in a more harmonious manner!

What a great Full Moon to lead us towards the Summer Solstice (Winter for our northern hemisphere friends) when the Sun makes ingress into Capricorn on the 22nd December!

If you know your Sun sign you can forecast where you’ll experience these cosmic energies.

If you do not know your Sun sign, message me with your natal details and I’ll freely email you your natal horoscope wheel so you do!

If you are a Gemini Sun, then the Full Moon will be in the House of your Sun and potentially in conjunction if your Sun, or any other planets (yes, in astrology, the Sun is referred to as a ‘planet’) between 25°28’ and 29°28’ Gemini. Being conjunct the Full Moon energy this could be an ideal time to evaluate your identity and let things go that no longer serve their purpose.

For a Sagittarius Sun, you’ll be experiencing the impact of the opposition if your Sun or another planet is between 25°28’ and 29°28’ Sagittarius. An opposition will create the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies involved. Avoid the urge to become a dominant self-righteous voice!

If you are a Virgo or Pisces Sun, this Full Moon may square your Sun or any other planet between 25°28’ and 29°28’, potentially creating some tense energies that if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth! Perhaps finding a way to be of service to others, to provide an ear for them to gain compassion may be a way of reducing any stress felt at the time of the Full Moon.

With your Sun in either Leo or Aries, the Full Moon maybe in sextile, and will provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, a pioneering opportunity to fine-tune the Self and to develop your generous nature. Keep an eye out that you don’t become too bossy or overbearing, especially when expressing your opinions!

Trines may be experienced by those of you with a Libra or Aquarius Sun, and here the Full Moon will facilitate a greater sense of harmony and flow, that needs to be worked with: tune into this cosmic energy or you’ll miss out on the vitality it could bring! Maybe look towards becoming innovative and avoid indecision – make the choice to free your spirit in a cooperative manner!

Which House your Sun is in will determine where you will be experiencing the impact of the Full Moon.

Again, if you do not know your Sun sign, message me with your natal details and I’ll freely email you your natal horoscope wheel so you can look to the House it is in.

Of course, the Full Moon will potentially make many different aspects to the 10 or more planets and points that make up your natal chart.

Finding Wisdom through living an Authentic Life: December’s New Moon & Solar Eclipse.

On 4th December 2021 at 6:43pm (AEDT), we will be having a New Moon and Solar Eclipse in 12°Sagittarius.

If you don’t live where Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) is used, the New Moon occurs at 7:43am (UT/GMT).

This is a total eclipse, but for us in Tasmania we will only see a partial eclipse at around 8:05pm (AEDT): you will need to be in Antartica to see the full eclipse!

The New Moon in Sagittarius affords us the opportunity to optimistically plan for our futures!

This New Moon also being a Solar eclipse, really benefits from the Sagittarius urge for new starts, new adventures and new experiences. With these Solar/Luna energies  being projected through a Sagittarius lens, we will sense a new confidence to travel (maybe only within our minds) and explore the meaning of life.

A great time to set your intention to study, learn and gain a new and more expansive understanding of your reality.

The New Moon/Solar Eclipse being in the South Node of the Moon suggests that we may uncover and let go of outdated philosophies and ways of thinking that hinder our progress through life.

Maybe a time to consider the veracity of my information sources – where do I find reliable, truthful information in this day and age? I say, ‘maybe’, but this is has been the message of the Lunar nodes for the last year or so – we have been tasked with finding a balance between the accepted truth of the Sagittarius South Node and the inquisitive and practical information of the Gemini North Node. We only need to reflect on the recent history of social media concerns, ‘fake news’, and the control of where we can obtain ‘truthful’ information, to get a feel for this pressing concern!

With the nodal axis about to change from Gemini/Sagittarius to Taurus/Scorpio, have we found the ‘answer’ to this question?

Could the New Moon/Solar Eclipse provide us with the opportunity to find faith within ourselves – to think with our hearts and allow intuition to take a more central role in decision making processes?

With the New Moon being in quincunx with Uranus (orange line on the chart opposite), we have a frustrating element being added to this opportunity to sow the seeds for finding meaning and faith.

A quincunx is a 150° aspect between planets in signs that have nothing in common: Sagittarius is a masculine, mutable fire sign, whilst Taurus is a feminine, fixed earth sign.

Here then, we don’t just need to find compromise, we need to find new ways of combing these energies and applying them to our lives. Will the New Moon/Solar Eclipse reveal that our faith has been misplaced? Can we find wisdom and security through living a more authentic life?

Uranus remains in square with Saturn (red line on chart above), and as you’d be aware, this aspect has been ongoing throughout the year (its actually part of a cycle that commenced in 1988 when Saturn was conjunct Uranus in 23°Sagittarius, and will end when a new Saturn Uranus cycle starts at 28°Gemini in 2032).

The Saturn Uranus square is, as all squares are, a time of tension between the two planets.

With Saturn in Aquarius, we have the push for innovative, structural changes – new ways of governance for example, being in conflict with Uranus in Taurus that wants authenticity, reform and security in the realm of our earthly resources. In a  way, Saturn is bringing new laws to manage revolutionary changes occurring to our planet, our values and worth.

Likewise, Uranus in Taurus is ushering in change in what we perceive as valuable, how we value our resources, and how we use them to gain security and wellbeing (think, energy sources, food stuffs, transportation, money, etc). Saturn could represent the traditional viewpoint of how we use earth’s resources, such as oil and the US dollar versus renewable energy and Bitcoin.

With squares, rather than dwelling on the frustration they create, we need to take action and do something to express the energies of both planetary needs: Saturn’s requirement for structure, commitment, and responsibility, needs to be harmonised and blended with Uranus’ drive for change, independence and freedom from the past!

A difficult thing to do! No wonder we find ourselves in seemingly draconian times!

But here, with Saturn being in sextile to the New Moon (green line in chart above), the ‘authorities’ (Saturn) have an opportunity to plant the seeds for a more supportive and easier path to harmony with Uranus’ push for the change that is occurring. A Sagittarius New Moon coupled with a Solar Eclipse should be a great time for new discoveries: maybe new philosophies, medicines and technologies will be ‘seeded’ at this time which will benefit the continuing stability of humanity?

Another fascinating lunation, with so much cosmic energy for us to tap into and utilise for our conscious evolution – wishing you all the best!

Check your natal chart to get an idea of the influence of the New Moon/Solar Eclipse:

With the New Moon occurring at 12° Sagittarius, if you have planets between 10° and 14° Sagittarius, energy of these planets will fuse with the New Moon and create a ’super planet’ that will be expressed in the House it falls in (remember that the House equates to an area of life).

If you have any planets or points (such as your Ascendent) between 10° and 14° Gemini, the New Moon will be in opposition, creating the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies involved.

Planets or points at 10° and 14°  of Aquarius or Libra will be in sextile to the New Moon, and will provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities for growth.

At 10° and 14°  of Leo or Aries, any natal planets or points will form a trine with the New Moon, facilitating a greater sense of harmony and flow, but if not worked with, these energies will lack the vitality they could bring you.

If you have any planets or points between 10° and 14° of Pisces or Virgo, the New Moon will form a square aspect and will potentially bring tense energies that will create a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth!

Revealing our values: Full Moon in 27°Taurus.

On Friday 19th November, 2021 at 7:57pm (AEDT) we will experience the Full Moon in 27°Taurus and very shortly thereafter, a Lunar Eclipse in Taurus.

With the Full Moon occurring in Taurus, the focus is on earthly matters: literally, our environment – the planet Earth and the stability and security we gain from partnering with the Earth.

In Taurus, we find concepts such as value and worth being applied to our resources and our selves: do we value the Earth sufficiently to work symbiotically rather the parasitically with Her resources – the resources we need for survival?

Is our self-esteem inflated or under-developed for our needs and our harmonious relationship with the planet Earth?

Do we have a false sense of security in our relationship with the planet Earth?

The Full Moon in Taurus raises these questions and many more. Being in trine to Pluto provides a flowing transformative energy that will see us penetrate the superficial and reveal the ‘reality’ that this lunation reveals!

Psychologically, the questions become internalised and we are tasked with reviewing our self-esteem, self-worth and value.

Do we value ourselves sufficiently to find worth in our being?

A Full Moon affords us a time to review such questions and consider whether we are living according to our true values. The Full Moon provides a time to invest in ourselves and apply our true values to living a stronger, healthier, more stable and secure – Taurian – lifestyle.

Does the Scorpio Sun force the Taurian Moon to take some action to guarantee our security and secure our emotional/material value?

With Jupiter in Aquarius forming a a fixed t-square to this Full Moon, we can see any tension experienced being channeled into an expansive, optimistic and truthful manner – making us wise of the underlying issues of this lunation.

The Lunar Eclipse at the time of this Full Moon may further aid in revealing those areas of our lives that need more support: What can I do to feel more secure in the world today? Can I contribute to securing the Earth’s resources?

Here then, will be an opportunity to consider what we need to do build our confidence, find value in our being and develop a partnership with the Earth’s resources that assures us of our mutual stability and future security.

Image: Partial Lunar Eclipsewww.nasa.gov/audience/forstudents/k-4/stories/partial-lunar-eclipse

In terms of the Lunar Eclipse, we will be experiencing a partial lunar eclipse. I use TimeandDate.com for all my astronomical timing and time zone information, and they have a great visualisation of this partial lunar eclipse as we will see it from 42° South in Hobart, Tasmania (the link will allow you to set it for your location).

Astronomically, this partial lunar eclipse will occur when the Earth moves between the Sun and the Full Moon.

Astrologically, eclipses are seen to bring some pretty dramatic events into manifestation or reveal some hidden knowledge, or something is reset: think of when the power suddenly and unexpectedly goes out; a fuse is tripped; the router reset!

What will experience at the time of this outage/surge?

Eclipses in Earth signs such as Taurus have been correlated with severe weather events, earth quakes, and the such. With Taurus being a sign that reflects our values and material security, upsets to finances and monetary systems have also been experienced.

Will something be revealed about our worldly resources; or financial security; or climate stability?

This will be our last lunar eclipse for 2021 and the first of a new 2 year eclipse cycle in the Taurus – Scorpio axis.

Here we will experience a pull between determined wills as both Taurus and Scorpio are fixed signs: the Will for resources – internal and external; personal and worldly.

This will see a need for us to find the middle ground between what I consider ‘my’ resources and ‘your’ resources: maybe we can come to an understanding that we ’share’ these resources and show gratitude to the provider – Gaia!

Recently, I was interested to hear of one of Earth’s entrepreneurs discuss his desire to use the resources of the Moon, Mars and the asteroids to sustain his vision of future humanity.

The interesting thing about his talk, was that it was part of a symposium entitled ‘Our Future in Space’ held last week on 10th November in Washington, and another speaker, the head of America’s intelligence agencies suggested that recent UFO investigations revealed an “extraterrestrial” origin!

Here is a link to a recording of the symposium https://youtu.be/UWyPk_f8aAA

Without getting off-topic and going down the UFO rabbit-hole, this highlights the sense of urgency in applying the Taurus-Scorpio energy to the question of our guardianship of Earth’s resources.

Rather than “strip mining” Gaia and then seeking additional resources off-planet as suggested by this entrepeuner (YouTube timestamp: 1:07:30), maybe we care for our resources and value our existence on the planet Earth?

Who ‘owns’ these resources: here on Earth and in the Universe around us?

An excellent essay asks that question here, and suggests our  “attitudes to space that focus on power and profit appear worryingly similar to the mindset of European and American colonial powers.”

Maybe, the “extraterrestrial” will not be too keen to see us “strip-mine” one planet and then move onto others in a parasitic fashion?

Before typing this blog post today, I meditated and when I was finished, I reached for a book I keep nearby and randomly opened a page to read.

This book, originally published in 1945, is Aldous Huxley’s ‘Perennial Philosophy’, which has been a constant source of spiritual clarity for me over the last 30 years, and today I read the following:

“The doctrine that God is in the world has an important practical corollary – the sacredness of Nature, and the sinfulness and folly of man’s overweening efforts to be her master rather than her intelligently docile collaborator… not brutally oppressed to serve our human ends.”

Aldous goes on to quote a Taoist parable which he interprets as reflecting “the living images of those busy persons who thought they would improve on Nature by turning dry prairies into wheat fields, and produced deserts; who proudly proclaimed the Conquest of the Air, and then discovered that they had defeated civilization ; who chopped down vast forests to provide the newsprint demanded by that universal literacy which was to make the world safe for intelligence and democracy, and got wholesale erosion, pulp magazines and the organs of Fascist, Communist, capitalist and nationalist propaganda.”

The ‘good-guy’ in this Taoist parable, “has no desire to bully Nature into subserving ill-considered temporal ends… his wish is to work with Nature, so as to produce material and social conditions in which individuals may realize Tao on every level from the physiological up to the spiritual.”

Aldous reports that historically, “The Greeks believed that hubris was always followed by nemesis, that if you went too far you would get a knock on the head to remind you that the gods will not tolerate insolence on the part of mortal men.”

“To have too much power over one’s fellows, to be too rich, too violent, too ambitious all this invites punishment, and in the long run, we notice, punishment of one sort or another duly comes.”

Aldous Huxley, The Perennial Philosophy (Modern Classic Editions, 2009) Pp76 – 78

How synchronistic that I should randomly select that passage!

And whilst I put the finishing touches to this post, I’m listening to Hawkwind’s song “Uncle Sam’s on Mars”  – some synchronistically poignant lyrics indeed!

Image: NASA – America’s Future Destinations – https://www.nasa.gov/exploration/systems/sls/multimedia/gallery/SLS_destinations.html

“Shoals of dead fish float on the lakes
But Uncle Sam’s on Mars
And science is making the same mistakes
But Uncle Sam’s on Mars
And no one down here knows how to work the brakes
But Uncle Sam’s on Mars

Uncle Sam’s on Mars, Uncle Sam’s on Mars
Uncle Sam’s on Mars, he’s on Mars

Layers of smoke in the atmosphere
Have made the earth too hot to bear
The Earth might be a desert soon
America has left the Moon

Uncle Sam’s on Mars, Uncle Sam’s on Mars
Uncle Sam’s on Mars, he’s on Mars

He’s on Mars

He’s digging for dreams in the red sand
He’s got his bucket and spade in his left hand
He’s digging for dreams

(Hawkwind, “Uncle Sam’s on Mars” 1976, by Robert Calvert, Dave Brock, Simon House, Simon King)

I hope the Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse provides you with the emotional clarity to find value, worth and security in your inner resources of confidence, faith and will, so you can apply these to sustaining a symbiotic relationship with our planet Earth and the Universe around us.

Check your natal chart to get an idea of the influence of these cosmic aspects.

At 27° Taurus, the Full Moon will form a conjunction with any planets or points (such as your Midheaven) between 25° to 29° Taurus. The energy of these planets will fuse with the FullMoon and create a ’super planet’ that will be expressed in the House it falls in (remember that the House equates to an area of life).

If you have any planets or points (such as your Ascendent) between 25° to 29° Scorpio, the Full Moon will be in opposition, creating the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies involved.

Planets or points (such as the Nodes of the Moon) at 25° to 29° of Pisces or Cancer will be in sextile to the Full Moon, and will provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities for growth.

At 25° to 29° of Virgo or Capricorn, any natal planets or points will form a trine with the Full Moon, facilitating a greater sense of harmony and flow, but if not worked with, these energies will lack the vitality there could bring.

If you have any planets or points (such as your Ascendent) between 25° to 29° of Leo or Aquarius, the Full Moon will form a square aspect and will potentially bring tense energies that will create a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth!

Are you interested in predictive astrology?

When the Sun reaches 03°Aquarius on the 22nd January 2022 (in the Southern Hemisphere) we will experience the first of the trigger dates stemming from this Lunar Eclipse.

Other dates to note are 18th May 2022 when the Sun is at 27°Taurus making a trine to retrograde Pluto in 29°Capricorn, and the 20th August 2022, when the Sun at 27°Leo is forming a quincunx with Pluto, who is still in retrograde motion at 26°Capricorn.

Events stemming from this Lunar Eclipse of 19th November 2021 will be revisited or have some form of re-focus placed upon them around these dates. With Pluto in the mix, expect issues of power and control to be a central factor!

Sowing the seeds of freedom – New Moon 5th November 2021.

In the Southern Hemisphere we have a New Moon at 12° Scorpio on 5th November 2021 at 8:14am (AEDT).

In the early morning of Friday (here in the Southern Hemisphere) the Scorpio New Moon will energise us with the power to transform, regenerate and eliminate the old ways of being!

As with all New Moon’s, this is a great time to plug-into the universal energy and get something underway: a project; a resolution; a goal.

Scorpio is the sign known for its intuitive and penetrative focus – exploring the depths of what it means to be alive. Scorpio is willing to delve into the subject matters we rarely care to know about: the taboo subjects of life and death – especially death and all that holds for us here and now.

Death is for many a great taboo, but for the Scorpio, death is but a form of transition and like the esoteric totem of this Zodiacal Sign, the Phoenix rises from the ashes of the old into a new form, more splendid than that previously.

With this New Moon being opposite to transiting Uranus in 12° Taurus, we are being tasked to re-energise our core being, our creative power-source, and find new, radical and revolutionary ways to balance any restlessness we may experiencing with this New Moon.

Taurus is the sign of security and stability: factors essential for our sense of self-worth, comfort and value. With Uranus in Taurus, there is an urge to transform from the old into new, more evolved concepts of security and stability.

What makes me feel safe and secure?  How can I feel secure in the current world of seeming instability?

Being in opposition to the New Moon, we may find ourselves (and our very concept of self) being challenged by external events!

Without being challenged in life we can stagnate, and whilst Taurus is about stability, it is not prepared to allow itself to wallow: the Bull wants to endure through life with a determination that brings peace.

Uranus will challenge this concept, and in doing so will pave the way for our sense of freedom to be renewed through facing and transforming the fear that undermines our sense of security these days.

Here, the New Moon energy is set to get something going that empowers us, and in Scorpio fashion, transforms us like the Phoenix!

Can we make this sense of fear a thing of the past and find renewal in confidence, surety, and above all, gain a sense of love and peace!

Check you natal chart to get an idea of the influence of these cosmic aspects.

At 12° Scorpio, the New Moon will form a conjunction with any planets or points (such as your Midheaven) between 10° to 14° Scorpio. The energy of these planets will fuse with the New Moon and create a ’super planet’ that will be expressed in the House it falls in (remember that the House equates to an area of life).

If you have any planets or points (such as your Ascendent) between 10° to 14° Taurus (where transiting Uranus will form a conjunction with these natal planets), the New Moon will be in opposition, creating the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies involved.

Planets or points (such as the Nodes of the Moon) at 10° to 14° of Virgo or Capricorn will be in sextile to the New Moon, and will provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities for growth.

At 10° to 14° of Cancer or Pisces, any natal planets or points will form a trine with the New Moon, facilitating a greater sense of harmony and flow, but if not worked with, these energies will lack the vitality they could bring.

If you have any planets or points between 10° to 14° of Leo or Aquarius, the New Moon will form a square aspect and will potentially bring tense energies that will create a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth!

I hope the New Moon illumines your life and that you are able to sow the seeds of authenticity, independence and freedom!

The Illumination of who I Am – Full Moon at 27°Aries, 21st October 2021, 1:56am (AEST)

 “I AM WHO I AM” (Exodus 3:14).

We could say that the seeds we planted at the Aries New Moon earlier this year have now come to fruition, the waxing cycle has reached its pinnacle and is soon to wane.

Here, we have the Sun illuminate the progress we have made in the endeavours we set ourselves around 12th April this year.

What has come to light? What is revealed? What is the result?

For better or worse, we are at the point of ‘harvest’.

We are now entering the waning phase, a time to go within and contemplate upon our ’success’ and to integrate it within ourselves, to share with others what we have learnt, and prepare the ‘seeds’ for a new Aries Moon cycle to commence in 2022.

Another prompt to ‘go within’ at the time of this Full Moon is the Cardinal T-square formed between the Full Moon (Sun-Moon opposition) and Pluto squaring the luminaries (Sun and Moon).

As the focal planet in this T-Square created by the Full Moon, Pluto will energise this event.

Pluto, the Greek god of the underworld: the world below where we may perceive ‘reality’ free from the illusion of the material 3D world!

Here we see the ’truth’: the veil has been lifted and the illusions removed – we are faced with the core of our being.

Being in Cardinal signs (Aries and Capricorn) suggests ‘action’ is required.

The universe is energising us to be pioneering, courageous, determined, and perhaps, self-sufficient.

With Pluto in Capricorn, we have Pluto in the mind-set of “roll-up-your-sleeves”, with its ultimate focus being on the “Great Work” (Stephen Forrest, [2012] The Book of Pluto. Seven Paws Press).

We’ve had our ‘Plutonian-sleeves’ rolled up since January 2008 and we will have them ‘rolled-up’ and doing Pluto’s ‘great work’ until 2024.

The ‘Great Work’ of Pluto is to transform: to completely penetrate to the core of existence, reveal the hidden reality, overcome fear, and regenerate into something more than it was previous.

With Pluto in Capricorn, transformation is being forced on us in the areas of authority and power, both collectively as a society and individually as you and I.

What ‘riches’ from the underworld of Pluto can we mine within ourselves to bring to the surface as resources to defy fear, take control and become powerful in our own being?

Looking to the ‘empty space’ opposite Pluto, we find the sign of Cancer and here we get a clue as to what we need to do with all this transformative energy of the T-Square: nurture ourselves, go within and find peace, stillness and harmony!

With Cancer also being a Cardinal sign, we should take action to establish our inner peace: perhaps a pranayama or asana yoga practice would aid here?

Oh, by the way…at the time of this Full Moon, we also have Mercury opposing Chiron, challenging us to consider how our words and the way we communicate can wound each other. It also suggests we can find healing through harmonious authentic communication. More to meditate upon!

And there’s more (there always is)!

With Mars still conjunct the Sun in Libra, we may become somewhat indecisive or prone to anger (Mars is in opposition to the Moon!) during this period, but if we align ourselves with Mars’ drive and focus upon enhancing humanity’s sense of self-worth, esteem and value, we can then use Mars to ‘fight for our rights’ and gain ‘justice for all’!

Regardless, this Full Moon will be a powerful time for us to illuminate who we really are, and to find comfort in ourselves and to share our authentic selves with others for our mutual benefit.

A time to go within and review – Pluto takes us to the depths and has us return reborn anew – a more Authentic Individual – aligned with the Universal Individual – the core truth of our Being.

Where is 24°Capricorn in your chart: here transiting Pluto will make a conjunction, pushing for change – total change!

Any planets or points at 24°Cancer will represent a ‘release valve’ and provide you with additional support, through finding balance with in this Plutonian prompt to raise our consciousness relative to the T-Square formed with the Full Moon.

Planets and points in your natal chart at 24°Pisces/Virgo and 24°Taurus/Scorpio will be able to tap into this push for change in less drastic ways: free of obstacles and with supportive opportunities present.

Don’t forget to review what was happening in the world and your life at the the previous New Moon at 22°Aries that occurred on 12th April 2021 – this Full Moon will see events from that time come to a head!

Wishing you a a potent Full moon – may it illuminate a transformed, real you!

Healing and Harmony across the Rainbow Bridge!

New Moon 13°Libra occurring on Wednesday, 6th October 2021 at 10:05pm AEST

On Wednesday 6th October, here in the Southern Hemisphere at 10:05pm, the Sun will conjunct the Moon at 13°Libra, forming the New Moon.

A conjunction occurs when two planets share the same sign and are within a close distance to each other. When conjunct, two planets share a purpose: they are unified and whilst their energies remain unique to their own essence, they directed together.

This New Moon is itself conjunct Mars, inconjunct Uranus at 13°Taurus, and in opposition to Chiron at 10°Aries. This combination of planetary makes this a somewhat feisty New Moon!

Remember too: Mercury is retrograde and also influencing this New Moon! Communication concerns may become more evident and be seen as a stumbling block to the change the New Moon desires.

New Moon’s are about new beginnings, and here in Libra, diplomacy, co-operation and harmony is the agenda. With Libra being ruled by Venus, we have the combination of the two luminaries shining their light on the need for co-operation as She desires all beings to be at peace.

With Mars in Libra, the planetary energy to survive is channelled towards the Venus-principal that seeks harmony gained via relationships. This is somewhat difficult for Mars as He is concerned with winning at all costs and is here being forced to consider others!

Mars is in His detriment when in Libra. This suggests that He is not happy and cannot fully express His core nature.

In Libra, the sign of compromise, co-operation and harmony, Mars’ drive for action and to win, is shifted from an individual goal to that of the collective – together we can win!

Libra wants everyone to be happy – Mars wants to win: working with others will achieve His aim.

This Mars situation will strongly influence us all for nearly 2 years as on the 8th October He is conjunct the Sun at 15°Libra exact and will commence a new synodic cycle. Whilst Mars may become somewhat indecisive during this period, we can personally align ourselves with his drive and focus it to pioneering growth that enhances humanity’s sense of self-worth, esteem and value! Here we can use Mars to ‘fight for our rights’ and gain ‘justice for all’!

With the New Moon being opposite Chiron, a centaur that orbits the Sun between Saturn and Uranus the asteroid and the Kuiper belt, we get a beautiful Libra opportunity to find balance, compromise, and harmony between our luminous core being and our sense of being wounded.

In a recent discussion with my astrologer-friend Joanne, she reminded me of Barbara Hand Clow’s conception of Chiron as being the “rainbow bridge” as it “links the inner planets, which represent personal issues, with the outer planets, which represent transpersonal issues” (Barbara Hand Clow. 2013. Astrology and the Rising of Kundalini. Bear & Company).

Chiron is the bridge between Saturn, the last of the inner planets and Uranus, the first of the outer planets. So, with this New Moon we have the opportunity to start something new that will allow us to find balance between the ‘old’ and the ‘new’.

Chiron, being about health and our sense of wounding, is here, the bridge between our ‘old ways’ of suffering and our ‘new ways’ of healing.

Uranus has been in Taurus since 2018 And will remain in this sign until 2026. Here Uranus is revolutionising our concepts of security and stability: this is the opportunity to reveal a radically new way of being. The challenges of these years are definitely pushing us to evolve and find freedom independent from the ‘old ways’ of being – the ‘old ways‘ of suffering!

Saturn in Aquarius can be seen as the ‘old ways’ of being, especially in the ways we think about who we are as the human race, how we communicate and understand our role in our society and culture. Saturn is often seen as stern and authoritarian: could it be that the ‘old’ way of governance requires replacing and a ‘new’ form of collective solidarity ushered in?

The strong inconjunct (more appropriately called a quincunx in astrology) between the New Moon and Uranus is providing us with the opportunity to develop new and unusual relationships that will bring us harmony, stability and safety.

Whilst we could face unexpected challenges, disruptions and revelations around the time of this New Moon due to the aspect to Uranus, we are afforded a great opportunity to work with elements of our life that may appear to be incompatible, but which can be brought together when we ‘evolve’, lift our consciousness and raise our vibrations. This is a topic covered in more depth in Barbara Hand Clow’s book Astrology and the Rising of Kundalini, and also in her seminal work, Alchemy of the Nine Dimensions, with the dimensions being levels of conscious awareness.

Perhaps this New Moon will prompt us to lift our awareness, and to take action that heals both you and I in a harmonious manner that sees humanity raise to new levels of being!

May the New Moon heal you and propel you on your journey to authenticity!

Knowing your natal (birth) chart will help you navigate and utilise these planetary energies to the full. Where you planets or points (i.e., Midheaven; Ascendant/Descendant, etc) between 11° and 15° of the following Zodical Signs will show you how the New Moon energy will be felt.

For example,

Squares in Cancer or Capricorn will potentially experience tense energies creating a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth!

Oppositions in Aries will create the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies involved.

Trines in Gemini or Aquarius will facilitate a greater sense of harmony and flow, but if not worked with, the energies will lack the vitality there could bring.

Sextiles in Leo or Sagittarius will provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities for growth.

Conjunctions in Libra will share a purpose: they will be unified and their energies directed together.

Quincunxes in Pisces or Taurus will generate a need to seek innovation to resolve any challenges, and in doing so raise your understanding of life and your role in it!

Which House the planet or point is in will determine where you will be experiencing the impact of the New Moon in your daily life.

Mercury Retrograde: The Trickster God Revealed?

In astrology, Mercury is seen as the function of communication, perception and the rational mind.

To gain a deeper understanding of the role Mercury plays in astrology we can look to His mythology and explore the relevance and meaning of the archetypes this mythology reveals.

One such archetype of Mercury is that of the Trickster God.

Image from: https://www.youtube.com/c/RussellBrand

As the Messenger of the Gods, Mercury was well placed to manipulate the messages he passed between them – maybe conveying his own agenda or just seeking to sow the seeds of disharmony.

When Mercury turns retrograde, He ‘slows’ down and what He has communicated  is open to review and scrutiny (I’ve written more on this subject here).

As I was mulling over this Mercurial archetype, I was notified that Russel Brand’s latest YouTube video was available and low and behold its topic was synchronistic with this  topic, made especially so as it was the day that Mercury turned retrograde!

Russel’s topic shows that information is always attached to an agenda: my writings are attached to my agenda – far less nefarious than the agenda’s that Russel discusses in this video!

The key point for me, is that during this period of Mercury retrograde, we are afford an opportunity to slow down our thoughts and review how we take in information – do we just accept that information coming from a place of authority will not have an agenda contrary to our wellbeing?

Has Mercury the Trickster been at play in the world: is information ‘fake’ as we have been advised?

For me, stilling the mind in a world of chaos is a challenge, but when this happens and the intuitive thoughts of the heart centre flow, then we find true information that is of value to our harmonious existence; our sense of self-worth; and our stability in an unstable world.

That is my opinion and my agenda!

The Gift of Mindful Retrospection – Mercury Retrograde from 27 September 2021 (AEST)

This is our third and final Mercury retrograde for 2021.

Recall that planetary retrogrades are optical illusions – they do not travel backwards, they just appear to because Mercury overtakes our Earth on its orbit around the Sun. From our perspective, Mercury appears to have slowed down and reversed His direction.

As I’ve written before, Mercury was the messenger of the Gods – communicating and transmitting information.

In astrology He is seen as the energy of communication and perception, travel and contractual relationships.

Mercury retrogrades have all occurred in Air signs this year, previously in Aquarius and Gemini, and currently in Libra.

So, the focus of this mercurial energy will have an extra-focus on communication, the mind, and connectivity.

Being in retrograde, this will mean miscommunication, misunderstandings, and disconnections may be experienced.

But knowing this, we can be prepared to be more open, to actively listen and genuinely engage with others. With Mercury forming a square to Pluto during this period, we need to be vigilant we don’t force our views on others!

When Mercury the planet appears to move backwards in the sky – retrogradation – be prepared for complications, disruptions and upsets to our plans!

Be prepared for changes to plans you put in place during the retrograde shadow period – and have contingencies in place!

The retrograde shadow period reflects the degrees of the Zodiac he will revisit during His time in retrogradation.

Mercury turns retrograde at 25°Libra on 27 September (in Australia) and goes back through Libra until He reaches 10°Libra on the 19 October, at that time Mercury goes direct and travels forward over this section of Libra (10° to 25°) until the 4 November when He enters new Libra territory from 26° onwards.

I’ve used this composite photograph of Mars in retrograde motion by Astrophotographer Tunc Tezel to graphically represent this Mercury retrogradation through Libra.

This means that if you have any planets or points (Ascendant/Descendant; House cusps; etc) within 10° to 25° Libra you will be experiencing Mercury’ gaze 3 times.

We will all be under the influence of Mercury Retrograde, but aside from Libra, if you have any of the following planets/points in your natal chart you will be especially influenced by His reversal:

You will  need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies between Mercury and any planets/points at Aries 10° to 25°

There could be tense energies creating a sense of collision if you have any planets/points in Capricorn or Cancer 10° to 25°, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth.

With planets/points at 10° to 25° of Aquarius or Gemini, you’ll find harmony and flow, but if not worked with, the combined energies will lack the vitality they can bring.

If you have planets/points at 10° to 25° of Leo or Sagittarius, there will be  support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing you with opportunities to grow.

Which ever house the planet/point is in will determine where you will be experiencing the impact of Mercury retrograde in your daily life.

Also, it is important to note what you where engaged in between 7 September and 27 September as this will be subject to Mercury’s triple scrutiny.

An alternative way of seeing this, is, what was occurring for you during that period of time is now up for a second and soon to be, third review.

Steven Forrest states that retrogradations “possess extraordinary depth and sensitivity” maybe because during periods of retrograde the planet is actually closer to Earth than it is during it’s ‘normal’ direct motion.

If this is the case, then we are afforded a great opportunity during a period of Mercury retrograde to analyse, dissect, and review decisions and plans we put in place between 7 and 27 September this year.

We can go back over things that may need rework, and review for errors or mistakes. Don’t forget that Mercury is a speedy fellow – maybe we rushed to complete projects in September and in doing so missed something vital?

Here we can apply retrospect to life that is still unfolding – what a great opportunity!

Not only in Mercury retrograde, but our Great Teachers, Jupiter and Saturn, and the transcendental planets of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, are retrograde too!

This then is a period of inner soul searching, reviewing what we have learnt and how we can apply this knowledge to our conscious evolution.

Best advise for this period of time is to be prepared to be more open, to actively listen and genuinely engage with others.

So, and contrary to popular belief, Mercury retrogrades are not bad: they are great times to review, research, and fine tune your projects and goals.

I wish you all the best during this astrological period of retrospection!

Reflections upon Truth

Full Moon on September 21st at 9:54am (AEST) occurring at 28° Pisces.

This Full Moon occurs when the transiting Sun in Virgo and the Moon in Pisces are in exact opposition: 180° opposing each other across the Zodiac.

Magicakally, we see Full Moons as relating to endings and culminations, as the Moon is fully illuminated by the Sun and will soon begin to wane and in mythical terms, return to the Source so as to find substance in order to seek reemergence anew at the time of the New Moon.

Here we stand at a critical point in time (as we do each lunar cycle) – here we find the fulfilment of the promise of the New Moon of 14° Virgo on the 7th September.

Everything is now made manifest for us to bring to fruition and share with the World during the waning period.

The emotional energy aroused by the Full Moon is Pisces is enhanced by the loose conjunction between the Moon at 28°Pisces and Neptune at 21°Pisces.

Neptune is co-ruler (along with Jupiter) of Pisces, so being in His Domicile will strengthen the Neptunian energy we experience. Being in retrograde suggests what Neptune was keeping hidden from us is now visible – that which we considered illusionary is now considered ‘real’.

Neptune in retrograde helps us to face our reality.

Neptune only makes things seem illusionary, hallucinatory, or deceptive, when we are not fully in-tune with Neptune.

Neptune in Pisces is prompting us as a collective humanity to detach ourselves from the limitations of our individuality and transcend the restrictions of the individual ego to become one with the Whole – freedom through unification is Neptune’s goal.

Neptune has been prompting us all to connect with the collective Whole through the removal of fear and the expression of our spiritual, inspirational and intuitive Being. This has been occurring since Neptune entered Pisces in April 2011 and will continue until 2025. Starting on 29 December Jupiter will join Neptune in Pisces and we can look to around 6 months of expanded connectivity with, and faith in, our spiritual life through the unity of the Piscean Rulers.

Image: Johfra Bosschart https://www.johfra.nl/en/biographie/

So, with Neptune conjunct the Full Moon, we can review the fulfillment of our past actions in a more spiritual, compassionate, and empathic manner – to consider how these actions can lead us individuals to a more unified collective of souls?

Luckily, we have assistance from one such leader in the form of Mars!

Here I do not see Mars so much the ‘God of War’, but the ‘God of Will’ – “do what thou Will shall be the whole of Law” – suggesting that our Will or urge to Be is the paramount goal of Being – an urge to Become Authentic and Whole.

At the time of this Full Moon, Mars is at 03°Libra, and Mars is not too comfortable in Libra – He is not is usual self!

Mars is in His detriment when in Libra. This suggests that He is not happy and cannot fully express His core nature.

In Libra, the sign of compromise, co-operation and harmony, Mars’ drive for action and to win, is shifted from an individual goal to that of the collective – together we can win!

Libra wants everyone to be happy – Mars wants to win: so here, working with others will achieve His aim.

And His aim here is to stimulate our karmic unfolding through His forming an easy opposition with the Nodes of the Moon.

An easy opposition occurs here when Mars forms a trine to the North node of the Moon and a sextile to the South, whilst of course the Nodes are in opposition to each other. Sextiles provide support and trines allow for things to flow unimpeded. Mars therefore, eases and assists us find the compromise required by an opposition.

So, what can Mars in Libra do for us here with the Nodes of the Moon?

I wrote of the Nodes here, and for this post we can simplify their meaning, and with the North Node in Gemini, this is exactly what we need to do!

As Jan Spiller conceives in her book, ‘Astrology for the Soul’, the North Node can be seen as those “attributes [we need] to develop” to fulfil our goal in becoming the Authentic Self in this lifetime. The South Node then are the “tendencies to leave behind”.

The North Node is often seen as our karmic goal in this incarnation. I actually feel that the whole natal chart as reflecting our karma and Steven Forrest in his book ‘Yesterday’s Sky’ tells us that “everything in the chart is karmic and the Nodes of the Moon are the karmic doorway into the heart of the issue”.

The North Node of the Moon is in Gemini, and the South is in Sagittarius. Here then we have a dichotomy between two signs principally concerned with the acquisition and understanding of information.

Gemini is concerned with information that is central to our concept of self: who am I, and why am I?

Sagittarius is also concerned with information that expands our concept of self: belief systems and faith.

Whilst neither Gemini or Sagittarius is ‘right or wrong’, the Nodal Axis suggests that at this point in our collective evolution, we need to focus upon the Gemini way of understanding the world and for the time being, resist the urge to codify everything in grand Sagittarian theories.

For now, the practical and intuitive information is what is needed and Mars helps us uncover it during the period of the Full Moon:

compassion and empathy for the collective unified humanity, come together as One to get things done by expressing our own truths as being but one truth amongst the whole!

I hope this Full Moon helps illuminate your Truth.

The Vernal (Spring) Equinox: “an obligation to act.”

Just some musings as I too ‘awaken‘ from my winter ‘hibernation‘…….

Photo by Matthias Cooper on Pexels.com

Vernal (Spring) Equinox – equilibrium and balance

Meteorologically, Spring is declared as the first day of September.

In the astrological world, Spring commences in the Southern hemisphere when the Sun reaches 00°Libra, and for us in Tasmania, the Spring Equinox occurs on Thursday, 23rd September 2021 at 5:21 am AEST.

At this time, our Northern hemisphere friends are entering into their Autumnal Equinox.

The Spring Equinox sets the Astrological scene for the next three months until the Summer Solstice.

A time of renewal and new beginnings.

An elemental time and time for the Air Element to energise our way of being.

Astrologically, this is more about our collective being, our culture, society and our tribe.

Libra is ruled by Venus and at this Equinox, She is in Her detriment!

Being in Scorpio suggests a difficult placement for Venus: a placement where She is unable to fully be herself!

Here in Scorpio, Her energy is intensely and singularly directed, whilst in her natural state as She finds in Taurus or Libra, Venus has a broad and encompassing view: wholistic, balanced and equal.

As we archetypically ‘emerge’ from winter into spring, are we seeing the world with narrow and intense Scopionic vision: is the world fearful and seemingly devoid of the material from which we can plant the seeds for happiness?

The world we live in seems to be getting worse – is it really?

Maybe it has always been this way and we are awakening from our ‘winter hibernation’?

Are our eyes now seeing more clearly the nature of being?

Maybe we have awoken a new, with a willingness to plant the seeds of harmony, balance and equality?

Belief in humankind’s sinful nature also provides a tidy explanation for the existence of evil. When confronted with hatred or selfishness, you can tell yourself, ‘Oh, well, that’s just human nature.’ But if you believe that people are essentially good, you have to question why evil exists at all. It implies that engagement and resistance are worthwhile, and it imposes an obligation to act.”

― Rutger Bregman, Humankind: A Hopeful History

I hope this Spring brings you a sense of renewed hope and a desire to seek balance and equilibrium in all you do!

The ‘doing‘ is the archetypal force of Spring-time: “an obligation to act” and to seek regeneration, renewal and regrowth!

Solar Eclipse in Gemini: thinking with the heart.

June 10th 2021 8:52pm AEST

Photo by Hassan OUAJBIR on Pexels.com

New Moons signify a time for new beginnings, a time to prepare for the future and set things on the path to growth.

The Sun is our sense of individuality, our urge to create and Be: to shine!

The Moon is our instinctual self, our emotional being, and urge to nurture (and be nurtured).

When combined at the New Moon, they seek to balance the inner and outer needs of our self: uniting heart and mind in harmony.

This New Moon is also a Solar Eclipse, as the Sun will be eclipsed by the Moon for a brief period of time (we wont see this in Australia).

This brief moment in time is like the flick of a switch: something is stopped and then started again; a reset; a reboot.

Something is ‘blacked out’ and then revealed.

With the ‘light’ of the Sun ‘switched off’, we can see our ego and conscious self being ‘eclipsed’ by our inner self: revealing the inner, emotional, soul truth.

Occurring in Gemini, the sign of the mind, this eclipse can be seen as revealing matters of thought, fact and truth.

Gemini’s planetary Ruler, Mercury is conjunct this eclipse and in retrograde, making His presence of great significance. We are getting an opportunity to review and restart. Communication, perception and information will be under the spotlight and reviewed for the value it adds to our emotional wellbeing.

Being close to the North Node of the Moon introduces an element of karma into the mix, and with the Nodal Axis being between Sagittarius and Gemini, this Eclipse will help us see reality a little more clearly.

That is, if the square to Neptune does not cloud and confuse our thinking! Try and remain grounded: what Gemini seeks is practical information that makes sense – simply! There is no need at this time for the philosophical and complex knowledge that Sagittarius may have us seek (read more here about the Gemini/Sagittarius intellectual battle to uncover the truth!).

This is a powerful Solar Eclipse, perfect for our current situation.

The astrology of now suggests that during times of doubt and confusion, look within yourself to the heart space and there you’ll discover a truth that sets you free of worry and on the path of harmony.

So, where will this Solar Eclipse be energetically influencing your life and revealing areas for change and growth?

Check which House the New Moon is transiting in your natal chart.

For example, above we have Marilyn Monroe’s natal chart, who if she were still in her physical body with us today, would be experiencing the Solar Eclipse  energies in her 11th House. This is the area of life in which she seeks meaning and growth through friendships and community. Maybe at this time she would be finding an emotional need to gain a clear understanding of her individuality whilst identifying with her ‘tribe’ of like-minded people.

Also, if you what to go deeper, check out the aspects that the Solar Eclipse at 19° Gemini makes to any planets you have between 17 – 21° degrees, such as:

  • Squares in Pisces or Virgo (these will be tense energies creating a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth);
  • Oppositions in Sagittarius (here, there will be the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies).
  • Trines in Aquarius or Libra (harmony and flow will be found here, but if not worked with, the energies will lack the vitality there can bring);
  • Sextiles in Leo or Aries (sextiles provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities to grow).
  • Conjunctions in Gemini.  When conjunct, two planets share a purpose: they are unified and their energies remain unique to their own essence but are directed together.

Which ever House the Planet is in will determine where you will be experiencing the impact of this Solar Eclipse in your daily life.

Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius – a shift in perspective?

Astronomy: eclipses (top), and the Moon’s passage around the Earth. Coloured engraving by J. Emslie, 1851, after himself.. Public Domain Mark

Our first Eclipse for 2021 is a Lunar Eclipse occurring at 05°Sagittarius on Wednesday 26th May at 9:13pm AEST for us here in Australia.

A Lunar Eclipses occur during a Full Moon (the Sun and Moon are 180° opposite each other), when the Moon, Earth and Sun are aligned, and the Nodes of the Moon cross the Ecliptic.

At that point, the light of the Sun is blocked by the Earth and the Moon receives Earth’s shadow.

If we have clear skies, we should get a great view of this Lunar Eclipse.

In astrology and magick, Full Moons are seen as a time of bringing things to fruition, we have reached a time when we become conscious of our creations and find ourselves at a crossroads: do continue as we were, or do we revamp and travel in a different direction, or do we purge and prepare to start anew?

Sagittarius is Ruled by Jupiter, who we find happily at home in His sign of Pisces.

Like his ruler, Sagittarius enjoys expansion, growth, exploration and the search for meaning. This is the ‘big stuff’, the meaning of life and the philosophical questioning that lead to us uncovering our spiritual being and oneness with the source.

Jupiter is forming a square aspect with this Lunar Eclipse, bringing some friction to our need to find meaning in life. But, as always with astrology, such fiction is considered ‘grist for the mill’ and if used well  the  stress will manifest something of value.

Image: Astronomy: Jupiter with an eagle, an angel above, looking heavenward. Engraving by N. Dorigny, 1695, after Raphael, 1516.. Credit: Wellcome Collection. Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)

The danger here would be to seek escapism and avoidance from the underlying urge to connect with the Source. Or, go too far the other way: becoming so immersed in the search for meaning that we lose sight of humanness and forget to ‘keep our feet on the ground’!

The key is to take appropriate action and not sink into apathy and do nothing, nor go to the extreme at the expense of being grounded. Find the middle ground and balance metaphysical exploration with living in the physical realm too!

With that out of the way, lets get to the great news that this Lunar Eclipse brings!

Astrology: signs of the zodiac, Sagittarius. Coloured engraving by S. Hall.. Credit: Wellcome Collection. Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)

Sagittarius is a Mutable Fire sign, enthusiastic and adaptable, with the flame of inspiration at its core. Sagittarius brings hope in the adventure of life – experiencing and growing through a quest for knowledge and wisdom.

In Sagittarius we find our ‘beliefs’, our ‘faith’,  and our ’truth’.

Sagittarius is not fixed in his belief system, he is adaptable and optimistic that there is always more on the horizon to understand and bring meaning to life.

Image: Astrology: signs of the zodiac, Sagittarius. Coloured engraving by S. Hall.. Credit: Wellcome Collection. Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)

Sagittarius energises our capacity to adventure in search of wisdom – this will be a time to seek out, study and experience things that fulfil our need to ‘know’, and to find ‘meaning’ in this life. This is a time to explore and find wisdom in being alive.

Our beliefs will be a the forefront of our Selves during this Lunar Eclipse – others will ‘see’ our philosophies and our ’truths’ by which we live our lives. Of course, this has potential risks – see above for Jupiter’s reminder to find the ‘middle-ground’ and not become bombastic. Remembering that ‘my truth’ is as valid as ‘your truth’!

With this Lunar Eclipse we may experience the emotional sensitivity of the Moon upsetting our capacity be objective and may become dogmatic in our belief structures – not taking into account the huge array of other peoples ideas, concepts and experiences that may enrich our understanding of life.

Here we have a point in time for review, to take stock, to end or modify what we started specifically around the time of the Lunar Eclipse that occurred in Sagittarius last year. I wrote a brief post on Facebook at the time, and made reference to Dane Rudhyar’s statement “that was mainly felt in the past is now seen” – suggesting that these Lunar Eclipses bring to the surface that which we have been gestating and now allowing for a shift in perspective. The Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius last year was on Saturday 6th June 2020 – what was occurring for you then; what plans did you put in place; did you set yourself new goals? A review of that period of time will help clarify what is occurring at this Lunar Eclipse on 26th May 2021.

Whilst the Lunar Eclipse will occur in a specific House in your natal (birth) chart and will provide a good indication as to the area of life that will be triggered by the Moon (see below), knowing the aspects the Lunar Eclipse makes to planets and points in your chart will really flesh out the impact.

So, as the Lunar Eclipse occurs at 05°26’Sagittarius you’ll find the following aspects occurring  between planets and points around 02° and 07° in these signs:

Opposition: Planets or points in Gemini between 02° and 07° (here, there will be the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies);

Conjunction: Sagittarius (when conjunct, two planets share a purpose: they are unified and their energies remain unique to their own essence but are directed together);

Sextile: Libra or Aquarius (sextiles provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities to grow);

Square: Pisces or Virgo (these will be tense energies creating a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth);

Trine: Aries or Leo (harmony and flow will be found here, but if not worked with, the energies will lack the vitality there can bring).

If you know your Rising Sign (your Ascendant – check here if you don’t), the Full Moon will illuminate these areas of your life:

Aries –  9th House: This is Sagittarius’ natural House – the House of Travel – literal and metaphorical.

Taurus –  8th House: The House of Transformation through shared resources – intimacy, power and money are the material of this House.

Gemini – 7th House: Relationships are the focus of this House, traditionally referred to as the House of Marriage.

Cancer –  6th House: Known as the House of Servants, here we experience our daily routines, our health, work and wellbeing.

Leo –  5th House: Ah, Joy! Creative self-expression through love, dating and developing human connectivity.

Virgo –  4th House: Your Roots are the focus in the House of Home, with emotional needs being paramount in terms of personal stability.

Libra – 3rd House: Communication and friendships in this House are geared towards information gathering – very apt for this Lunar Eclipse!

Scorpio – 2nd House: Our Values – personal and material are at the centre of this House. Money, food, possessions are the core focus here.

Sagittarius – 1st House: Who am I – I am me! This House is about You and the expression of You – personal development and self-awareness focus heavily here.

Capricorn –  12th House: Here we Transcend the mundane world! This is the area of life where we can let go and heal.

Aquarius –  11th House: Our tribe is found here and we excel through teamwork and community involvement. Oh, and embrace technology

Pisces – 10th House: Ambition is not a dirty word! Where do aspire to be the world – this is the area that the lunar Eclipse will stimulate – self-expression and destiny and intertwined here!

Mars square Chiron: Removing Fear and Finding Direction!

Occurring later in the day of the New Moon in Taurus, we find Chiron at 11°Aries forming a square with Mars at 11°Cancer.

Chiron is the ‘wounded-healer’ and in astrology He represents where we are wounded in life: physically, psychologically and spiritually. The sign and House you find Chiron in your natal (birth) chart is a good indicator as to how and where in life you’ll experience them – although, you’re already living with them! What this placement can reveal, is the means to healing yourself, the sign and House and any aspects made to Chiron in your chart will help you discover the best path to take in this lifetime to heal yourself. The key to this healing process is that it through healing others you will will heal yourself.

This specific transit (Mars square Chiron) is occurring for all us regardless of our natal placements of both Chiron and Mars – this is a cultural and societal issue, a wounding that reflects humanity and reveals how we can heal ourselves as a collective.

Being in Aries our wounding and healing will be found relative to our identity, our concept of who we are and where we are going in this incarnation.

Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and a Cardinal Fire sign: Aries is the urge to BE; to create; to initiate.

Aries is our identity in action – we adventure from this starting point in the zodiac and explore our Being in the World through Aries’ energy.

To be ‘wounded’ in Aries is to be ‘wounded’ in our capacity to BE: we are unable to fully expresses the drive of Aries to Become our Authentic Self.

Such a ‘wound’ may be felt as fear, for Aries is normally ‘fearless’, we may feel dependent, as Aries is ‘independent’, we may feel ‘lost’, as Aries usually confidently adventuring into life!

Are ‘we’ as a collective of humanity ‘lost’ and restricted by ‘fear’?

Mars is the Ruler of Aries, but finds Himself in Cancer, a sign of His detriment. As such, He is not happy and his energies are erratic and not well focused on the outside world as He would like.

In Cancer, Mars is contained within a ’shell’, He is protective of His family and ready to take action to protect what is important to them.

By squaring Chiron,  Mars is forming a 90° angle that brings tension and friction that requires action to resolve.

How do we resolve the wounding of our identity?

How do we assert ourselves as a society?

How do we conquer our collective fears?

By resolving the friction of the square, we create something new, and with both Aries and Cancer being Cardinal signs, we are energised to take action and find our identity a new.

We will find the confidence and drive to heal our collective wounding by healing our society once we see ourselves as a family: a unity of purpose that heals humanity and nurture our capacity to BE.

Healing ourselves as humanity may be driven by planetary energies such as this Mars square Chiron that calls us to transcend the self, find optimism within the collective, develop a sense of integration with the whole and enhance our life purpose!

Take a look at my home page, and feel free to contact me if you’d like to explore Chiron in your own birth chart.

New Moon in Taurus – Down to Earth with Karma and Communication!

New Moon Wednesday 12th May 4:59am (AEST)

The New Moon occurs in the sign of Taurus, which is ruled by Venus (She also rules Libra).

In the chart for this New Moon we find Venus in the sign of Gemini, which for Venus is a rather neutral placement (in astrology, this placement is called ‘peregrine’).

In Gemini we also find Mercury, and Mercury rules Gemini. As such, Mercury is in a position of Dignity and His full expression is manifest.

With Mercury so placed, we can say that Mercury is the Planetary Ruler of this New Moon.

As such, all things Mercurial will influence the Taurus New Moon.

In astrology, Mercury represents our conscious mind, information, thoughts and communication. In His Domicile (the Sign He rules) of Gemini, Mercury is inquisitive, adaptable and sociable.

So, we have the versatility of expression, the need to communicate clearly and form connections with others in our understanding of what it is we wish to learn and share.

The New Moon in Taurus suggests that this subject material will relate to that which we value, and that which provides us with stability and security. Taurus is a Fixed Earth sign: like the Bull, he is grounded, practical, determined and seeks contentment. He can also be stubborn and difficult to move! These are there traits that weave their way through the Taurus energies we experience during the New Moon.

So, with the Mercurial influence upon Taurus, we need to communicate and perceive information that makes us feel safe, stable, contented and peaceful.

A highlight for this New Moon is the conjunction between Mercury (its Planetary Ruler) and the North Node of the Moon (and consequently, in opposition to the South Node of the Moon).

The Nodes of the Moon are astrological (and astronomical) points where the orbiting Moon intersects the northern and southern  plane of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun (known as the ecliptic).

By exploring our North and South Nodes we can uncover karmic lessons for this lifetime.

The North represents where we need to head in life: it is often difficult and not something we readily enjoy or seek, but know in our hearts to be the ‘right’ path to travel.

The South Node represents what is easy for us and where we retreat to the familiar and habitual areas of our life: here we feel safe, but stagnant and knowing that we are not getting anywhere in life.

To use more spiritual terminology, the South Node shows us our karma – what we need to address, and the North Node, our dharma – what we need to strive for to live a fulfilling life.

Where the Nodes are in your own birth chart can be quite revealing and by analysing them you can gain great insight into your journey through life: providing you with clear guidance as to how to find balance, harmony and success  in this lifetime!

I have written about the karmic influence of the Moon’s Nodes here

At that time on the 14th December, 2020, the New Moon in Sagittarius at 23°Sagittarius was conjunct the South Node and formed an opposition to the North Node.

A theme of that New Moon in Sagittarius was that we needed to take time out to reappraise how we seek information and analyse it for practical value.

This New Moon, with Mercury conjoined the the North Node in Gemini conveys a message to us  that we will find great value, security and harmony when we communicate using clear, basic, simple, unbiased data.

Forget the grand theories and focus on what you perceive: the nuts and bolts that mean something and

This New Moon is a cosmic reminder that we can get confused by complex theoretical information and will, at this point in time, benefit greatly from, clear language.

For example, everything I wrote above could be summed up in three words:

keep it simple!

Astrology can help pinpoint where you are likely to experience the New Moon energies in your life on Earth.

If you know your Rising Sign (your Ascendant – find it here), the New Moon will illuminate these areas of your life:

Aries –  2nd House: This is your Taurean  House, where you seek security and stability as the foundation to your being. In practical terms this could relate to money, food and possessions. Psychologically the 2nd House relates to self-esteem and self-worth. So here with the New Moon in Taurus you will no doubt be feeling the need to ground yourself and become more secure and confident in matters of emotional value and security, which of course will be tied into the pragmatic need for financial security. The New Moon energises the drive to increase your sense of self-worth.

Taurus –  1st House: The House of Identity brings emotions to the surface and with the Mercurial element at play with this New Moon, expressing your feelings may be paramount. On a deeper level, the New Moon may trigger an emotional sensitivity that may make us easily upset, perhaps by taking things to personally? Here, our sense of self-value is is tied in with our identity and maybe we need to reflect on how we can balance the two so as to bring emotional harmony to our life? Communicate with yourself, meditate and reflect on bringing balance to supporting your emotional self when asserting your urge to be YOU in the world outside of the self! The New Moon encourages you to find a new you.

Gemini – 12th House: With Mercury in Domicile (see above) in Gemini, you will find communication and perception to be supercharged with this New Moon, which is handy here in the House of Hidden Things! This House represents our unconscious mind, our empathy for others and our capacity to transcend the mundane! Here then, being open and honest, and expecting that in return, will be a focus of this time. Being genuine and avoiding secrecy in dealing with others will bring harmony and stability to our emotional nature with this placement.

Cancer –  11th House: Cancer is ruled by the Moon, so this is an auspicious placement for a New Moon to energise your instinctual and nurturing self within the House of Friendship and Tribe! Establishing allegiances of like-minded souls, communicating with friends and building a harmonious foundation to explore inspiring goals together are indicated with this New Moon. Finding emotional stability and real-world security by uniting with others with a common goal will bring you the stability needed here.

Leo –  10th House: Career and ambition in the world are the focus here – one could even suggest, destiny! With the Taurus New Moon we could suggest a change in life path is under consideration: where do you wish to shine? Being determined to review your career and communicate your dream to become that which you have dreamed of becoming is a focus here. Does my career bring me security, value and worth? You may also find your mother represented by this placement – interesting!?

Virgo –  9th House: The House of Travel – literally and metaphorically! Expansion of the mind, the gaining of faith and the development of wisdom are the areas of life that the New Moon may stimulate with this placement. All with a view to improving your sense of self-worth, confidence and the security gained by faith in what it is that nourishes you wellbeing. Caution though – recall above that this is a time when we need to focus on the simple matters and use clear concrete language – avoid getting emotionally getting caught up in complex philosophical theories of life at this point in time!

Libra – 8th House: Here the deep focus will be on instincts and needs relating to shared resources, intimacy and power!  This House is the realm sex, death and taxes!!! The things that have power over you and control how you live your life: that which we often see as ‘taboo’. So, with the New Moon we have the opportunity to look afresh at how we use our power and others control us, all with a goal to establishing an emotional security that helps us live our lives to the full in fairness and empathy. We need to breathe, and go within to explore the emotional depths that hold us back!

Scorpio – 7th House: Balance, co-operation and compromise within the realm of relationships is the area of this House. The New Moon is energising the chemistry you have with others, and will be prompting some form of transformations to make these relationships work better for you. This is serious stuff – not casual relationships, but meaningful contact with others that bonds you with them.  By finding harmony in being with someone else, you will become something more than the sum of two – a new you, secure and stable in your relationship.

Sagittarius – 6th House: The House of Routine, work and wellbeing represents those areas of life where you give of yourself to others: the feeling of being useful and of value!  Being a Taurean New Moon the focus here will be on stability, security and wellbeing – so maybe this is a time to review your health and fitness; what habits could do with a revamp or removal; do you need to become more organised to feel more whole?

Capricorn –  5th House: Creativity and fun – yay! The New Moon highlights your need to express your uniqueness and leave a tangible mark on the world. Being creative is not just about art, it is about your capacity to produce something that reflects your life force and sense of vitality. So, here we could find he spotlight on our children and how their needs influence our instinctual being and help us find the emotional security that brings harmony to our urge to live live to the full. Oh, this House is also about romance too, so maybe forging ahead, expressing your unique self will do wonders in this department of life!

Aquarius –  4th House: Here the New Moon is energising the roots of our being: where we seek nurturing and where we nurture others – our foundation and space we call ‘home’. Of all the Houses, this one resonates with the need for emotional security. In the spirit of keeping things simple with this New Moon, perhaps here we could focus on our intuition and use our heart rather than our mind to guide us to review and establish new ways of finding security in our home? Maybe, this is a literal time to renovate your house or metaphysically, renovate the vehicle that houses the spark of universal consciousness and revealing the authentic self? This is also the House of our Father and our aspirations in life (projected into the world in the area of the 10th House).

Pisces – 3rd House: This New Moon, ruled by Mercury, has communication at its core: communicating and perceiving the world in simple terms that echoes the value of being alive. Feeding the mind will feed the soul and bring emotional stability and growth during this New Moon. Communicating openly and honestly with your friends and family may be beneficial in gaining a fresh understanding of yourself and others: all with a goal of finding self-worth, value and harmony through these interactions. Practical study such as yoga rather than deep philosophical learning is indicted here although, the paradox is that one leads to the other!

Full Moon in Scorpio: reviewing our Shadow.

Photo by Ozge Karabal on Pexels.com

This Full Moon on 19°Scorpio at 1:31pm AEST on the 27th April 2021, will be the first Super Moon of the year.

A Super Moon occurs when the Moon is at its perigree: it is at its closet point to the Earth.

This Full Moon brings to fruition the ’seeds’ we planted at the time of the Scorpio New Moon at 23° Scorpio on the 15th November last year.

I wrote a brief post on Facebook at that time, and suggested that the challenges of 2020 were affording us an opportunity to transform and rise anew like the Phoenix.

Take a look back in your journal or diary: what was going on for you in November 2020.

Are there any themes relating to this time still active in your life today?

Have you experienced a rebirth like the Phoenix?

In astrology, we see the New Moon as a time to start a new direction in life, to reorientate, and to ‘plant the seeds’ for renewal. You may not have a specific goal in mind, but you ‘know’ you must change.

The time of the Full Moon is the time that the results of those ’seeds’ come into the light, and we can start to reap what we have sown. The Full Moon illuminates our growth and under this light, we get to review our progress and decide to continue along the path we started or modify it to reflect our current needs.

Being a Super Moon, this Full Moon will be amplified and it’s illumination will intensely reveal the hidden aspects of our live’s and uncovering secrets that need to be acknowledged and integrated to make us whole.

Scorpio Moon’s have us face our inner fears and intensely explore the depths of our emotional being. All with the goal of honest connection with our authentic being.

So, here we have a time of reviewing our inner most being and especially our shadow side.

The thoughts and behaviours we do not like, our judgements, our biases, our jealousies, our darkest thoughts: all will be brought to our attention for review so we can really ‘know’ ourselves – ‘warts and all’!

And talking of introspection of the deepest nature, Scorpio’s Ruler, Pluto turns retrograde a few hours after this Full Moon on Wednesday 28th April at 26°Capricorn around 6pm (AEST).

Pluto retrogrades back through Capricorn until He reaches 24° on the 7th October and goes direct again.

This is an important point to remember: Pluto is revisiting old ground back to 4th January this year. He will then take a third ‘look’ at these same degrees from 7th October.

Here then, we have Pluto, Lord of the Underworld (Hades in Greek mythology) reviewing our lives!

Pluto is stimulating us to review our transformation so far this year, and how He does that is to bring the unconscious to the surface. Like I have written about the Full Moon occurring the day before this event, we will be urged, perhaps ‘forced’ to take a look at our ‘dark side’ and seek to let go of old ways of behaving and thinking so as to gain rebirth and resurrection like the mythological Phoenix!

Pluto helps us uncover our destiny: I would recommend we use this opportunity wisely!

You’ll especially feel Pluto’s power if you have planets or points at 24-26° of:

Capricorn (conjunction – when conjunct, two planets share a purpose: they are unified and their energies remain unique to their own essence but are directed together);

Pisces or Scorpio (sextile – this aspect provides support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities to grow);

Libra or Aries (square – these will be tense energies creating a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth);

Virgo or Taurus (trine – harmony and flow will be found here, but if not worked with, the energies will lack the vitality there can bring);

Cancer (opposition – here, there will be the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies).

Not only is the Moon in opposition to the Sun (being a Full Moon), but it is facing a stellium of determined planets in Taurus. Their influence will ‘flavour’ how we experience the Full Moon.

Uranus opposing the Moon could bring unexpected and sudden events that challenge our emotional stability, but which seeks to help us reform ourselves and find our authenticity.

Questions of self-worth and value may come up with the Venus opposition, suggesting we seek emotional balance in addressing the deep inner issues that we are likely to be facing during this Full Moon.

Astrology can help pinpoint where you are likely to experience these cosmic energies in your life on Earth.

If you know your Rising Sign (your Ascendant – find it here), the Full Moon will illuminate these areas of your life:

Aries – 8th House: this House has Scorpio as its natural ruler, so expect intensity relative to your instincts and needs. Here, the Full Moon will activate your transformation through deepening relationships, merging with others through the exchange of power, exploring reality to its full.

Taurus – 7th House: the Full Moon shines on relationships, allowing you to express your feelings to your partners (romantic or other) in an open and honest manner that secures commitment and growth.

Gemini – 6th House: your workplace may be an area that the Full Moon activates as needing a review? Likewise, other areas of routine such as health and habits may be of concern relative to you feeling fulfilled in life. Bringing a sense of structure and organisation to these areas of life will be of benefit under this Moon’s gaze.

Cancer – 5th House: Fun, love and romance and everything that reflects your creative nature is the area of life that the Full Moon activates for the Cancer Ascendant. Creating connections with others will boast your sense of self-worth and see you ’shine’ in other peoples eyes!

Leo – 4th House: This being a Scorpio Full Moon, the inner self and your emotional needs will be under the microscope for analysis, review and transformation. Being grounded and finding security in your emotional being will aid in this introspective period. The home life will serve as a beacon of refuge and also the source for growth.

Virgo – 3rd House: having a Mercurial influence to this House, the Full Moon’s influence will have an urgent and pressing sense to it.  You’ll be feeling the need to communicate and gather information in order to address your emotional wellbeing. Maybe a good time to start a journal about these matters?

Libra – 2nd House: the House of self-worth will undergo the Moon’s gaze and questions such as self-value and esteem may come up for transformative review. Is material value placed higher in your world than the value of your humanity?

Scorpio – 1st House: the Full Moon activates your urge to be, your drive to explore the world and express your uniqueness. Concepts such as self-awareness and self-development are the kind of matters you may be drawn to explore.

Sagittarius – 12th House: transcending the self, putting the ego in its place and becoming one with the whole is feel of the Full Moon in this house. This then is a time to explore the spiritual dimensions of your life, a time to allow the ego to resign itself to a quiet place and relax into an expanded awareness of being connected to something that is more than just yourself.

Capricorn – 11th House: Freedom as an individual is the Full Moon’s focus in the 11th House, but this uniqueness of self needs to be found and grown through journeying with like-minded others. Is there a cause that calls to you? Maybe its time to find your tribe?

Aquarius – 10th House: the House of Destiny! Career, ambition and personal achievement are central themes of this house, and with the Full Moon here, maybe its time to review and evaluate your goals in life. Does your ambition in life balance the material world with your inner emotional needs?

Pisces – 9th House: The Full Moon has us focus on life’s meaning and purpose in this house. Optimism and adventure in the search of emotional wellbeing will be an inner drive at this time. Questioning whether you are on the right path may come up and require some contemplation during the Moon’s gaze here.

What is my Rising Sign?

Your Rising Sign is your Ascendant: the Sign that was rising on the Eastern Horizon at the moment of your birth.

The Ascendant Sign reflects the manner in which you present yourself to the world.

Have you ever wondered why you best friend who is a Pisces Sun comes across so brash and headstrong and not caring and spiritual as you would expect of a Piscean?

Amongst many astrological factors, we could simply surmise that their Ascendant is in Aries and what you see is their fearless independence asserting itself as they navigate through the world.

Their Aries Ascendant assists them to accomplish their goal to become the full potential of a Pisces Sun in their own unique way!

This is what our Ascendant does, it helps us to explore, to grow and interact with the others.

It is the mask we wear, our persona and the vehicle we use to navigate our being through this incarnation.

Along with your Sun and Moon sign, knowing your Ascendant is vital to understanding your astrological make-up and how you can experience the best out of life.

I can draw up your birth chart and provide you with a brief one-page summary of your astrological make-up that you can use to get a better understanding of the transits, Moon cycles and other astrological events that I and other astrologer’s blog about regularly.

For example, knowing your Ascendant will give you an indication as to where the Jupiter Pisces ingress will be experienced here on the ground in your daily life. Knowing this will prepare you to use the planetary energies to their full potential.

Jupiter in Pisces – Compassion and Intuition Rule!

For awhile anyway!

Jupiter will ingress (astrological term meaning ‘to move’) into 00° Pisces at 8:36am AEST, Friday 14th May 2021.

As a 01°Piscean I can’t wait for this ingress as Jupiter will be conjunct my Sun for the whole of this period.

Jupiter will go retrograde during His time in Pisces, traversing back through 02° to 00° Pisces from 21 June until around 11:15am on Wednesday 28th July when He makes ingress back into Aquarius at 29°.

Jupiter will remain in Aquarius until 29th December this year and then He will spend most of 2022 in Pisces (He’ll retrograde into Aries in the middle of 2002).

This brief transit during May  to July this year will give us an idea as to His benefit influence on our lives during 2022.

So what is so good about having Jupiter in Pisces?

Jupiter is the Traditional Ruler of Pisces. Neptune became the ruler in the 19th Century. And where is Neptune during this period? He is in Pisces too! With both rulers in their sign of Dignity, their greatest expression will be energised to the full!

Wherever we find Jupiter in our charts we find expansion, so in Pisces He expands Piscean energy in the areas of:

♊︎ Empathy ♊︎ Compassion ♊︎ Intuition ♊︎ Creativity ♊︎ Spirituality

Jupiter in Pisces plays the role of the seer, urging us to seek meaning, find connectivity, to adventure in search of wisdom and gain faith in our awareness of being!

In Pisces, Jupiter awakens our urge to know and to know we must go inwards and use our minds to comprehend the incomprehensible so that we can come back out with new found wisdom and live life in world to our fullest potential.

Wow – such a Piscean statement!

But one that resonates with this cosmic energy and one that shows how valuable the Piscean tools of empathy, intuition and creativity are essential to the work we will be urged to perform on our inner being during this transit of Jupiter.

Neptune is here too, and has been since 2011 and will remain so until 2026, and He brings a transcendent vibe to our sense of awareness: we are prompted to explore our connection with a higher realm of being, to release ourselves from the grasping limitations of the material world and experience a oneness with the source.

Of course, all of this comes with dangers too! The danger of being overwhelmed by emotions and developing a sense of helplessness in the face of the seeming cruelty of the world outside of ourselves. Escapism in all its forms could be a trap for us during this transit: we may feel so overwhelmed that we turn to unproductive habits to dissolve the pain of awareness.

Knowing this and preparing for an increase in intuition and spiritual awareness is highly recommended: tap into the modalities that inspire your creativity; that relax and still your mind; that bring an uplifting sense of joy. Meditation, yoga, poetry, painting, being in nature, etc. will be of great benefit to our transcendence and expansion during this time (and on into our future).

Make this Jupiter in Pisces transit one in which you tap into your very sense of being, expand your awareness of your reality, and in becoming something more than you currently are, find growth and harmony in your life’s experience!

The question most people ask an astrologer, is where will this exactly happen in my life? In what areas of my life will I be feeling this urge to release from the limitations of the material world and make contact with my higher being?

Well, if you are a Pisces Sun from 00° – 10° you’ll find this an intense but exhilarating period, as Jupiter will be conjunct your Sun bringing optimism and preparing you to begin a new 12 year Jupterian cycle of growth and expansion of your sense of individuality through the expansion of your understanding of reality: the development of wisdom.

See why I wrote initially, that as a 01°Piscean, this would be a great transit for me!!!!

How this pans out for you, can be gleaned if you now your Rising Sign (this is your Ascendant. – the sign on the cusp of the 1st House in your natal chart – find it here if you don’t know it):

♈︎ Aries – 12th House – a time to explore the spiritual dimensions of your life, a time to allow the ego to resign itself to quiet place and relax into an expanded awareness of being connected to something that is more than just yourself.

♉︎ Taurus – 11th House – exploring your future with others, finding and growing with your tribe will be beneficial to your evolving self during this transit.

♊︎ Gemini – 10th House – where do you want to shine? Here your ambition to achieve and leave your mark in world will subject to the introspection that Jupiter in Pisces stimulates.

♋︎ Cancer – 9th House – Jupiter will enjoy stimulating your desire for inner adventure, the exploration of your spiritual self and the gaining of wisdom that’ll enhance your understanding of your place in the scheme of things.

♌︎ Leo – 8th House – intimacy and resources will be highlighted for you and how you use these factors in your life to achieve power and transformation: merging with others on a deep level may bring about a new better you!

♍︎ Virgo – 7th House – relationships! Empathy and equality may be the Jupiter in Pisces message for you: co-operating with those you are in relationship with (romantic; platonic; business; etc) will be an area for you to expand your awareness of your true self.

♎︎ Libra – 6th House – giving of your self: your work and wellbeing will be the focus here – seeking meaning to life through contributing to the happiness and wellbeing of others, will be an area that you will find Jupiter energising your faith in your own self-worth through harmonising with others.

♏︎ Scorpio – 5th House – self-expression of your uniqueness is an area that you’ll feel the urge to expand your creative being during this transit. What do you create? Children? Art? Love? These will be the focus of this transit and through creating new connections with others your drive to shine will be fulfilled!

♐︎ Sagittarius – 4th House – Jupiter will be focusing on your roots and the foundational you. Sounds ominous, but this is the area of life where you seek nurturing, such as your your home life – where you feel emotionally secure and ready to extend yourself into the world strengthened and ready to take on the challenges that come with expanding our awareness of reality!

♑︎ Capricorn – 3rd House – this will be all about communicating with others and gaining a clearer perception of what is important for you to grow into your authentic self. Learning will be of value in expanding your awareness of who you are and the potential to becomes something much more! Learning astrology may be helpful here!

♒︎ Aquarius – 2nd House – values and self-esteem will be an area for growth and understanding with Jupiter in pisces. Here you will dig deep into the resources that offer you the greatest opportunity to develop your sense of worth as a unique being. Given that we are talking about Jupiter in Pisces being in your 2nd House, we are going to focus on spiritual values: the resources that bring a transcendant harmony to your life and aid you to find growth.

♓︎ Pisces – 1st House – your very identity will be given a boast with Jupiter in Pisces. The means by which you explore the world will be expanded and open to new transcendental opportunities! Here you will energised to explore your identity from within so as to express your authentic self to world outside.

If your natal Sun is between 00° and 04°Pisces, Jupiter will be conjunct and as I discussed above, this a time of great opportunities to build on who you are and to become the better self you know in your heart you can be!

Enjoy!

Finding contentment in Taurus 2021

Happy Birthday to all my Taurus friends and welcome to Taurus Season!

20th April 2021 until 21 May 2021

The Goddess arrives! The Earth is born!

The sunlight gleams on the Bull’s gold horn.

All nature stirs as Taurus is seen,

bearing Venus, the Earth’s bright Queen.

The fire of Mars is lulled to rest

as he lays his head on her soft breast.

Lady of Love all hail to thee,

for Cupid’s swift dart and quickening tree.

Venus in Taurus shows the way,

to live our lives from day to day.

In sons and daughters of this sign

patience and loyalty in them shine.

Wisdom too is here aligned,

in the Sacred Bull all are combined.

Venus manifest in fertile Earth,

all her glories brings to birth!

Taurus, by Patricia C. Crowther.

A stirring poem from one of my favourite Wiccan’s, written from a northern hemisphere perspective, but just as meaningful for us in the southern hemisphere as it is so rich with Taurian imagery!

Patricia evokes the Fixed nature of Taurus, his enduring stability and drive to preserve. She highlights the Bull’s receptivity, reliability and practicality of the Earth element, as well as the rulership of Venus in this sign.

Listen Patricia read her Rite of Taurus here

On the day of the ingress into the sign of Taurus we find the Sun forming a wonderful stellium with Mercury, Venus, and Uranus.

With Venus ruling Taurus, She is dignified here, and joins with the Sun to express affection, beauty and harmony in the revelation  of our true self.

Mercury aids our ability to communicate this creative being, and Uranus awakens our desire to be authentic!

Uranus in Taurus has us re-evaluate our self-worth and our relationship with material possessions: What do I value? Does the accumulation of ’stuff’ really make me happy? What do I really need to be content? In ourselves, we need to find our true value!

Uranus remains in Taurus all year (actually, until 2026!) and will influence our lives greatly (see my post here for more on this).

Fundamentally, this a challenge from the Great Awakener to seek independence from tradition so as to  establish a secure and harmonious new being: our unique, inventive, creative and authentic self.

Rebirth and the New Moon in Aries

New Moon in 22°Aries on April 12, 2021 at 12:30pm AEST (April 11 4:30pm UTC)

With the New Moon in Aries we have the start of a new lunar cycle.

When the Sun enters Aries, it is the start of the astrological new year, and when we have the first new moon in Aries we initiate and establish a new way of operating within this new year.

So, now we have a great opportunity to leave the past behind and steer a new course of action through the coming year.

New Moon’s are about new beginnings.

Having a New Moon in Aries gives us an enthusiasm for life, for growth and for the expression of our authentic self.

We can tap into this assertive cosmic energy to initiate new projects and ways of behaviour that will see us evolve into the being we wish to be.

Maybe we take this opportunity to review how we relate to ourselves, how we express our identity, and perhaps start a process of recreation, and some of the aspects occurring at this time will make sure we do!

With Venus being conjunct the New Moon, we may have to review our relationship with ourselves, what we value and what brings harmony to our sense of being.

Image: Jan Brueghel the Elder, Orpheus in the Underworld, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons

Pluto forms a square with the Sun and Venus at this time and urges us towards rebirth, transformation of our very nature. Pluto will bring some tension to our sense of self and the relationships we have with others at this time.

Pluto will  have us penetrate to the core of our being to review that shadow-side which is hidden and but which if integrated into our being will make us whole.

Here we can conquer our inhibitions to realise our sense of individuality, our urge to create and shine! Pluto is power – the power to resurrect ourselves, like a Phoenix reborn!

Mars is in sextile to the New Moon, so here we have a harmonic aspect that brings a flowing cosmic energy to support the opportunities we make for ourselves during this period. There will be a sense of courage, excitement and an urge to achieve with this aspect – tap in and use it well!

Make sure any plans to transform yourself are realistic as by the the Full Moon in a couple of weeks you will start to see the results and be in a position to affirm, adjust or discard this plan for the new you!

So, where will this New Moon be energetically influencing your life and revealing areas for change and growth?

Check which House the New Moon is transiting in your natal chart. For example, we here we have Carl Jung’s natal chart, who if he were still in his physical body with us today, would be experiencing the New Moon energies in his 2nd House, the area of life in which he seeks material security, value and self-worth. On a mundane level, this is the House of Money, resources and income. So, if this was occurring for you, what changes would you need to make to ensure you needs for self-worth?

Also, if you what to go deeper, check out the aspects that the New Moon at 22° Aries makes to any planets you have between 20 – 24° degrees, such as:

  • Squares in Capricorn or Cancer (these will be tense energies creating a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth);
  • Oppositions in Libra (here, there will be the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies). In the chart above, we can see that Carl Jung would be experiencing an opposition with his natal Jupiter: possibly an emotional time, where he would be questioning the meaning of life, to bring balance to his need for emotional stability, and to explore the deeper spiritual aspects of his being so as to find harmony and peace.
  • Trines in Sagittarius or Leo (harmony and flow will be found here, but if not worked with, the energies will lack the vitality there can bring);
  • Sextiles in Aquarius or Gemini (sextiles provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities to grow).
  • Conjunctions in Aries.  When conjunct, two planets share a purpose: they are unified and their energies remain unique to their own essence but are directed together.

Which ever house the planet is in will determine where you will be experiencing the impact of the New Moon in your daily life.

New Moon in Pisces – The Bridge that connects us to spiritual love!

On the 13th March 2021 at 9:21 pm AEDT we have a New Moon at 23° Pisces.

This brings a beautiful theme of connecting and finding harmony in our relationships with the totality of life.

At this time, the Sun is conjunct the Moon, forming the New Moon.

A Full Moon is when the Sun opposes the Moon (this will occur on 29 March at 08° Libra).

A conjunction occurs when two planets share the same sign and within a close distance to each other. The Moon and Sun are conjunct at the time of the New Moon. When conjunct, two planets share a purpose: they are unified and their energies remain unique to their own essence but are directed together.

This New Moon is itself conjunct Neptune and Venus, both in the sign of Pisces.

Pisces brings the energy of spirituality, compassion, and intuition to our creative life force (The Sun) which is fused with our instinctual being (The Moon): bringing a drive to express our authentic self as one with the totality of life!

Neptune rules Pisces and energises this part of the Zodiac with the capacity to dissolve, release and then transcend that which limits us.

Venus is said to be Exalted in Pisces! This means She is treated like an honoured guest and her energy is inflated – Super Venus Power!

Being placed here, Venus will aid us in uncovering what is of real value to us, what we truely love and what brings real balance to our wellbeing.

This is beyond physical love and the relationships we forge with others on the mundane level – this is soul level love: the love that transcends the need for desire or want.

With Venus in Pisces we find love in the Divine! The Source of All Life and happiness comes from our Being aware of this Reality!

This combination of cosmic energy suggests a great opportunity to meditate or engage in whatever spiritual practice will allow you to uncover what needs to be transcended so as to bring harmony, beauty and value to your spiritual life.

So, where will this New Moon be energetically influencing your life and revealing areas to ramp up for change and growth?

Check which House the New Moon is transiting in your natal chart. This will determine where you will be experiencing the impact of the New Moon in your daily life.

Also, if you what too go deeper, check out the aspects that the New Moon at 23° Pisces makes to any planets you have between 19 – 27° degrees, such as:

  • Squares in Gemini or Sagittarius (these will be tense energies creating a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth);
  • Oppositions in Virgo (here, there will be the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies);
  • Trines in Cancer or Scorpio (harmony and flow will be found here, but if not worked with, the energies will lack the vitality there can bring);
  • Sextiles in Taurus or Capricorn (sextiles provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities to grow).
  • Conjunctions in Pisces.  As I wrote above, when conjunct, two planets share a purpose: they are unified and their energies remain unique to their own essence but are directed together.

Activation of our Authenticity!

Photo by Rakicevic Nenad on Pexels.com

Here in Australia we will have a Full Moon on February 27th at 8 degrees 57 minutes of Virgo.

Virgo nourishes the soul and the body: she is the maiden that seeks purity of mind, body and spirit.

Being ruled by Mercury, Virgo seeks to enlighten and is the bridge between the known and the unknown, the seen and the unseen.

Virgo is therefore ever helpful, thoughtful, and is associated with daily life, our work and our wellbeing.

With the Full Moon being in Virgo, our emotional needs can come under the spotlight for review: perhaps its time to live a healthier lifestyle? Are we managing the stressors of life in a positive and proactive way? Is our working life in balance with our emotional life? Can we find a way to de-stress and improve our mental wellbeing?

As I always say, nothing in astrology occurs in isolation!

Here we also have the influence of the Saturn Uranus square I wrote about here.

With the Full Moon, this then may be the opportunity to make radical and even revolutionary changes to the way in which manage our work and wellbeing, and how we nourish the body and soul.

We may find that the processes we started earlier this year and especially those around the time of the New Moon of February 12th at 23° Aquarius are perfect for our transformation and mark the way forward to a healthier way of being.

Whatever you do now that has a positive impact on your whole self, will become the new foundation for your journey to the authentic self: your original self that is part of the whole!

Obviously, this may not come easily, the Saturn Uranus square brings tension and upheaval: we will rebel against the old ways of doing things and implement new ways of being!

Luckily, the Pisces Sun being conjunct Venus, will illuminate these issues with an ability to find the contentment, value and beauty in making such difficult changes to our way of living.

Interesting times ahead for us all!

So, where will this Full Moon be energetically influencing your life and revealing areas for change? Check which House the Full Moon is transiting in your natal chart.

For example, in the chart above it is in the 1st House of our identity and the manner in which we explore the world around us. With the Full Moon lighting up this area of life, our emotional needs will be in the forefront and will need to be well balanced to make sure we don’t drain others with our own need to be nurtured! Finding new and improved ways of gaining our emotional security will be the focus!

If the Full Moon was in your 7th House of balance through partnership, co-operation with others maybe ripe for review and if played well, will see a strengthening of connection as we explore life with someone else in companionship!

Take a look at my home page, and feel free to contact me if you’d like to explore your birth chart or help interpreting the cosmic forecast for a successful future.

Can friction, tension and conflict be a good thing?

With Saturn squaring Uranus on 18 February 2021 it could be so!

Saturn at 07° 13’ Aquarius squares Uranus at 07° 13’ Taurus.

In astrology, a square is a harmonic aspect between two planets forming a 90° angle.

A square brings tense energies which can create a sense of collision, friction, conflict, and stress, but which if handled well, will provide us with greatest opportunity for growth!

To handle such a situation well requires us to take action.

Such a situation occurs on 18th February when we find Saturn squaring Uranus.

Uranus is the planet of our Soul’s evolution as Uranus connects our personal mind with that of the Universal Mind.

With Uranus, we gain a glimpse of the universal consciousness, and this aids us in realigning our earthly goals with a bigger picture, one that satisfies our evolutionary drive to become something more than we currently are.

This realignment provided by Uranus is in potential only – we need to take action to make it manifest in our life here on Earth.

Luckily, we have Saturn to push us into action: to turn a sartorial moment into a firm foundation for the authentic self to establish itself and continue to flourish!

Recall that Saturn in Greek mythology is Kronos and it was he who usurped his father Uranus to become King of the Gods (see my post here for more mythology). To enflame the conflict between these gods, it is worth noting that Saturn traditionally rules Aquarius but has had that role appropriated by Uranus!

With that in mind, we can see that Saturn may enjoy causing Uranus some conflict!

For us mortals though, we are being challenged by this friction: challenged by Father Time (Kronos = Saturn) to take action and build a new model of our evolving self (revealed by Uranus).

Saturn will challenge us to use our earthly assets to build a transcendent being: a Uranian being that is structurally sound and committed to seeing our karmic responsibilities in this incarnation.

Heavy stuff!

No wonder our ancient foremothers and fathers referred to this deep transformative work as The Great Work – the true alchemical change to realign and rebuild ourselves into the True Self – the Universal Self.

With all of this occurring in Taurus we can see how this cosmic drive will be expressed for us on the earthly plane.

As we know, Taurus is a fixed earth sign. He is is the Bull – a powerful vibrant creature that seeks the security of material stability – happy in a verdant paddock of lush grass, a shady tree and a flowing brook are His fundamental needs, desires and all.

As a Zodiacal Sign, Taurus instills within in us a practical and sensual nature, along with a  commitment to endure and maintain a loving peaceful existence.

Great stuff if all is going well for the Bull, but if his brook dries up and his grass starts to wither, will His stubborn nature allow Him to move on and find greener pastures elsewhere?

With Saturn probing Uranus to action in the sign of Taurus we have the situation where we are being asked to seek new and radical ways to secure our material sense of security, to review and reset our concept of value, wealth, and worth.

For many of us, if we sit with this and meditate on the depth of the cosmic urge for spiritual revolution we may come to the conclusion that instead of placing great value on material wealth, we must realign our societal, cultural and personal values in order to recognise increases in consciousness as of greater value: conscious wealth!

Why do I suggest this? Saturn is Aquarius – the sign of the Mind, consciousness and future vision!

Interesting times ahead for us all.

So, if you have any planets between 1° to 19° in the Fixed Signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius you’ll definitely be feeling the push to evolve your way of thinking and revaluate what you value.

By the way, this is not a one of event, this is part of a 45 year cycle that started in 1988! I’ll write more on this soon.

Please take a look at my home page, and feel free to contact me if you’d like to explore your birth chart or help interpreting the cosmic forecast for a successful future.

Mercury Retrograde – its a kind of magick!

Astrology is a kind of magick!

Our first Mercury retrograde for this year will commence on 31st January and ends on 21st February.

Recall that Mercury was the messenger of the Gods – transmitting information between them. In astrology He is seen as the energy of communication and perception, travel and contractual relationships.

So when Mercury the planet appears to move backwards in the sky – retrogradation – be prepared for complications, disruptions and upsets to our plans! Be prepared for changes to plans you have in place, including travel arrangements: leave early and have contingencies in place!

We will be having three periods of Mercury retrograde this year, next will be 30th May to 23 June, and then, 27th September until 19th October.

All these periods will occur in the 3 air signs,  currently in Aquarius, then Gemini during May and finally,  Libra in September.

So, the focus of this mercurial energy during 2021 will be on communication, the mind, and connectivity. The areas that Mercury rules!

Being in retrograde, this will mean miscommunication, misunderstandings, and disconnections may be experienced.

Image:NASA/Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory/Carnegie Institution of Washington, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons

But knowing this, we can be prepared to be more open, to actively listen and genuinely engage with others.

“Did I understand what was being said”, “did I ask clear questions”, “was I giving enough time to convey my message” and vice versa.

In a nutshell and contrary to popular belief, Mercury retrogrades are not bad: they are great times to review, research, and prepare your projects and goals that can be implemented when the planet goes direct again: after 21st February.

Another factor is that when Mercury retrogrades, He is traveling back over areas of our life we have already been working on.

During this period in February, Mercury travels backwards from 26° Aquarius to 11° Aquarius where He was from around 15th January this year. What will He be doing revisiting old ground?

Ground that we may need to rework, review for errors or mistakes. Don’t forget that Mercury is a speedy fellow – maybe we rushed to complete projects in mid-January and in doing so missed something vital? Well now is the time we will find out!

Where Mercury sits in your natal chart will provide you with a guide to those areas of life you can work with to make this retrograde work for you. Were you born during a period of mercury retrograde? If so, you might find that this is a great time for you to communicate with a sense of calm – no more feeling like your mind is rushing from one thing to another!

Check out the aspects that Mercury at 26° Aquarius to 11° Aquarius makes to any planets you have in your birth chart, such as:

  • Squares in Taurus or Scorpio (these will be tense energies creating a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth);
  • Oppositions in Leo (here, there will be the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies);
  • Trines in Gemini or Libra (harmony and flow will be found here, but if not worked with, the energies will lack the vitality there can bring);
  • Sextiles in Aries or Sagittarius (sextiles provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities to grow).
  • Conjunctions in Aquarius.  When conjunct, two planets share a purpose: they are unified and their energies remain unique to their own essence but are directed together.

Which ever house the planet is in will determine where you will be experiencing the impact of Mercury retrograde in your daily life.

Take a look at my home page if you’d like to contact me to do this for you, and also this post to get a better understanding of aspects and their use in astrological interpretation.

Full Moon at 9° Leo – a time for transformation: trust in life and be creative!

Occurring at Friday 29th January at 6:16 am (AEDT)

A full moon represents completions and the bearing of fruits – those seeds you planted at the time of the last New Moon in Leo now come to fruition.

To explore the impact of this event, reflect back upon what was occurring for you around the 19th August 2020.

Maybe, its time to finalise plans started back then, or consolidate any projects or ideas conceived at that time.

As the second luminary in your horoscope, the Moon reflects that sensitive, emotional side of your being that inspires moods and nurtures the soul.

Ruled by the primary luminary, the Sun, Leo is a fixed fire sign of creativity and self-expression.

The 9th degree of Leo is seen esoterically as the point of transfiguration: “The exalted feeling that rises within the soul of the individual who has successfully passed through the long night which has tested his strength and his faith” (Dane Rudhyar).

So, a great time to connect with our soul and become creatively inspired to continue along our path of exploration and growth.

We may find ourselves desiring to be the centre of attention (Leo-style), or desirous of being with others on a deeper more spiritual level (The Moon)?

As I often say, nothing in astrology occurs in isolation! There are many others factors at play at the time of this Full Moon.

For example, The Sun which is in opposition to the Moon, forming this Full Moon, is also conjunct Jupiter and Satun in Aquarius (another fixed sign like Leo, but of the element of Air – communication and thought). In addition, the Sun is squaring Uranus which itself is conjunct Mars in Taurus (another fixed sign, in the element of Earth – material, conservative, grounded).

Indeed, the combination of these planetary aspects forms what is known as a T-square, and in this case a Fixed Element T-Square as all the planets involved find themselves in fixed signs.

A T-square occurs when 2 planets planets opposing each other, such as the Moon and Sun, form a square with another (eg, Mars).   All these aspects are tense and as such a T-square is thought of as a challenging pattern

The point of this focussed energy is the Mars Uranus conjunction in Taurus, and as fixed signs suggest stability, security and perseverance as the matter of concern.

We will need to put some constructive energy into the area of life this is highlighting for us (that is, the House that Mars and Uranus find themselves in our transiting chart).

Recall that Houses are areas of life’s experience that the zodiac and planets influence.

So, which ever aspect of life Mars conjunct Uranus is in, by bringing you creative centre in line with your emotional needs you’ll find the strength needed to stabilise any sudden, impulsive or unexpected changes to your sense of security and value.

To help you deal with this situation, take a look at the position of Scorpio in your chart. As the fourth of the fixed signs and the ‘missing leg’ of the T-square, you’ll find guidance and wisdom in it’s placement and if used well, will see this T-square become a great opportunity for transformation!

To be forewarned is to be forewarned: check out my post on cosmic weather forecasting to get an idea how to prepare for such events.

So, where will this Full Moon be energetically influencing your life?

Check out the aspects that the Full Moon at 9° Leo makes to any planets you have between 7 – 11° degrees, such as:

  • Squares in Taurus or Scorpio (these will be tense energies creating a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth);
  • Oppositions in Aquarius (here, there will be the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies);
  • Trines in Aries or Sagittarius (harmony and flow will be found here, but if not worked with, the energies will lack the vitality there can bring);
  • Sextiles in Libra or Gemini (sextiles provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities to grow).
  • Conjunctions in Leo.  When conjunct, two planets share a purpose: they are unified and their energies remain unique to their own essence but are directed together.

Which ever House the planet is in will determine where you will be experiencing the impact of the Full Moon.

Take a look at my home page if you’d like to contact me to do this for you, and also this post to get a better understanding of aspects and their use in astrological interpretation.

New Moon 23°Capricorn 13th January 2021 @ 4:00pm

New Year – New Goals!

I’m writing this post on 6th January when the Last Quarter Moon is in Libra and I am preparing to use the New Moon to it’s fullest.

As you may know, New Moon’s offer us a great opportunity to use a little magick in our life and set things on a course that will see us grow, thrive and excel.

I’m preparing for my new course and will seek the aid of the Moon Goddess in her assistance with its success!

Being in Capricorn we can use this Moon magick to aid our life achievements by creating realistic plans.

This would be an ideal date to set aside some time to commit to a plan of action of something that expands your career or business.

Maybe even commit to a transcendental goal!

Capricorn energy will provide a solid foundation for your ambitions to grow in a structured and committed manner.

Of course, nothing in Astrology occurs in isolation!

There are many other influences at play at the time of this New Moon.

We have Pluto, the Planet ( yes, I still refer to it as such!) of transformation and rebirth conjunct this New Moon, offering us a soulful opportunity to reflect on what we maybe could let go of, or transform in our life to give us a greater sense of emotional stability.

Also, the New Moon is conjunct the Lord of Karma, Saturn, providing boundaries to our creative expressions. His influence should bring structure and integrity to the goals we set out for this New Moon cycle.

Whether you actively utilise this New Moon energy in the magickal sense of establishing a new project or goal, its energy will influence your life.

Where will this occur for you?

Check out the aspects that the New Moon at 23° Capricorn makes to any planets you have between 18 – 28° degrees, such as:

  • Squares in Libra or Aries (these will be tense energies creating a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth);
  • Oppositions in Cancer (here, there will be the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies);
  • Trines in Virgo or Taurus (harmony and flow will be found here, but if not worked with, the energies will lack the vitality they can bring);
  • Sextiles in Pisces or Scorpio (sextiles provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities to grow).
  • Conjunctions in Cancer. When conjunct, two planets share a purpose: they are unified and their energies remain unique to their own essence but are directed together.

Which of the 12 Houses the planet is in will determine where you will be experiencing the impact of the New Moon in your daily life.

For example, the 1st House relates to your very identity and approach to life, the 5th is where we find your self-expression and desire to shine, the 8th relates to death and sex! I’ll provide a guide to the Houses soon.

Take a look at my home page if you’d like to contact me to do review your chart or this transit for you, and also this post to get a better understanding of aspects and their use in astrological interpretation.

Full Moon at 8 Cancer

Time to nourish the Self : Full Moon at 8 Cancer

At approximately 2:28pm on Wednesday 30th December, we will experience that last major lunar event of 2020.

We’ve come to the end of the lunar cycle for this year: here the Moon is again at it’s fullest, but will soon start to wane its way to the first new Moon of 2021 on the 13 January.

As we know, a full moon represents completions and the bearing of fruits – a good time for us to reflect on our 2020 experience.

Being in Cancer, the Moon is at home, reflecting or sensitive, emotional side of being that inspires our moods and nurtures our soul.

With the Moon being opposed the Sun, there will be that sense of a push-pull between our emotional self and our ego: a need to find balance between our creative sense of individuality and our instinctual intuitive self.

Be cautious not to withdraw, but explore your emotions!

And, especially in the face of a Moon Mercury opposition (which means a Sun Mercury conjunction) where communication, including that never-ending self-talk, will be merge with our vitality and place tension upon our emotional needs.

As that was not enough, we have the Sun and Moon squaring Chiron: the wounded healer.

Chiron’s archetypal story helps us to heal our metaphysical wounds by assisting others to heal.

With this square, the Sun and Moon opposition may reveal our wounds: maybe our wounds are emotionally stuck and need a little effort from our life force to shine a light on them and force us to take action? Healing and growing is part of our evolutionary path.

The Moon and Sun form a more harmonic relationship with Uranus at this time: bringing an inventive energy to the growth of our individuality. Maybe we need to step outside of the norm to heal ourselves at this time?

Where is all of this occurring for you?

Check out the aspects that the Full Moon at 8° Cancer makes to any planets you have with an orb of 0 – 2 degrees, such as:

  • Squares in Aries or Libra (these will be tense energies creating a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth);
  • Oppositions in Capricorn (here, there will be the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies);
  • Trines in Pisces or Scorpio (harmony and flow will be found here, but if not worked with, the energies will lack the vitality there can bring);
  • Sextiles in Virgo or Taurus (sextiles provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities to grow).
  • Conjunctions in Cancer. When conjunct, two planets share a purpose: they are unified and their energies remain unique to their own essence but are directed together.

Which house the planet is in will determine where you will be experiencing the impact of the Full Moon in your daily life.

Take a look at my home page if you’d like me to explore this Full Moon with you, and also this post to get a better understanding of aspects and their use in astrological interpretation.

This is the dawning of the age……..

Of Aquarius….maybe not quite yet, but this the dawning of a new Air Cycle, with Kronos, The Lord of Karma (Saturn) making his entrance into the sign of the Water Bearer (Aquarius) on the 17th December 2020.

The Great Mutation begins (see my previous post here for more information).

An Air Cycle brings ideas and principals to the fore. It emphasises our conception and expression of what we perceive. The Air element holds the archetypal concepts that underpin our reality. In Air these concepts are developed and prepared for manifestation.

Dane Rudhyar suggests that “Aquarius is the sign of release of power. What has been concentrated in Capricorn is released as creative power in Aquarius” and that therefore, “Aquarius becomes a release of explosive power”  and this is “social creativeness or revolution”( The Universal Matrix, p.170).

So, what Saturn engendered and built up in 2020 during his time in Capricorn will find release in novel, evolving and independent ways!

This is his karmic role as the traditional ruler of Aquarius: to usher in new traditions and new structures.

But with Aquarius co-ruled by Uranus, we can expect to see this urge to structure fostered by sudden change, by revolution and an authentic drive to reform how we live.

This will further wake us up collectively as nations, cultures and individuals!

Lifting the veil and revealing the archetypal resources that we can apply to move us forward in innovative and humanitarian ways.

Kronos’ son, Jupiter will join him in Aquarius from 20th December 2020, bringing optimism, growth and opportunities to the Aquarian push for  social and individual revolution!

Where will you find this upheaval occurring in your individual world?

Take a good look at your birth chart and see which House Aquarius rules and you’ll find where this revolution will be focused for you.

Which house are Saturn and Jupiter conjoined? Here in the chart below they are in the 5th House of creative self-expression: what do you create? Children? Love? Joy? Connections?

If you can overlay the transits upon your birth chart, you’ll gain invaluable information on how to navigate the Great Mutation!

Check out the aspects Saturn/Jupiter make to any planets with an orb of 0 – 2 degrees, such as:

  • Squares in Taurus or Scorpio (these will be tense energies creating a sense of collision, but which if handled well will provide the greatest opportunity for growth);
  • Oppositions in Leo (here, there will be the need to find balance and avoid the extremes of the planetary energies);
  • Trines in Gemini (harmony and flow will be found here, but if not worked with, the energies will lack the vitality there can bring);
  • Sextiles in Aries or Sagittarius (sextiles provide support and stimulation of the planetary energies, providing opportunities to grow).

New Moon with karmic reminders!

We have a New Moon at 23°Sagittarius at approximately 3:15am  on 15th December.

For parts of South America it will also be a Solar Eclipse, and mundane astrologers would suggest that earthly upheavals may occur (earthquakes, political or cultural changes, etc).

For us here in Australia, and personally we also face potential upheavals, but of the karmic nature!

Looking at the chart below, we can see the Eclipse conjoining the South Node and forming an opposition to the North node.

Two of the most important points in a person’s natal chart are the North and South Nodes of the Moon.

These are not physical planets, but mathematical points reflecting the way in which the orbit of Earth interacts with that of the Moon.

This orbit is a curving snake like path and is reflected by the solar and lunar eclipses we sometimes get to see.

On an esoteric level, the Nodes reflect a symbolic meaning that reveals our past and future!

To use eastern terms, the South Node shows us our karma – what we need to address, and the North Node, our dharma – what we need to strive for to live a fulfilling life.

For example, if your North Node sits in the 11th House, you will need to consider being less self-centred, involving yourself in groups for the sake of the group not your own ego.

The South Node in this case will be in the 5th House, making it really easy for you let your ego take control of your life and loose sight of what really brings you peace, fulfilment and happiness.

The South Node behaviours are easy for us and as such there will always be tension between the two Nodes!

So, the New Moon of the 15th December portends to be very interesting for all of us!

The South Node is in Sagittarius and the North in Gemini.

With Mercury conjoining the Eclipse, we have a clear message that communication, information, data, knowledge and wisdom are at stake.

With a Sagittarius South Node we could suggest that our thinking is somewhat blurred by big picture things and we need to take time out to reappraise how we seek information and analyse it for practical value.

The North node in Gemini guides us here, clear, basic, simple, unbiased data – the nuts and bolts that mean something: this is where we need to put our energy.

Simply put, forget the grand theories and focus on what you perceive.

But that is not all!

Mercury and the Eclipse both form a harmonic aspect to Mars, increasing the sense of mental alertness that will aid our exploration of the karmic needs of how we perceive and process information.

As seen in the chart there is another aspect that may cause some upset to this seemingly clear process: a tense aspect to Neptune, who is now in direct motion within his own sign of Pisces!

With Neptune in the mix, we need to be cautious that the information we are utilising is harmonious and accurate, not delusional, fear or paranoia inducing!

Does it resonate with the heart? Does it install fear? Choose wisely and remember that it is the nuts and bolts we need to be focusing on at this point in time, not the great philosophical meanings!

All life is a process of transformation – Are you ready for the next 20 years?

2020 has been a huge year of personal and collective challenge.

We have been forced to review the way we operate in the world.

With the Jupiter – Saturn conjunction* happening on December 21/22, it’s time for us to get rid of the old ways of doing things and prepare ourselves to live completely differently!

We will be entering a 20 year cycle where Jupiter and Saturn will play together in Aquarius.

Aquarius is an Air element, and is all about innovative, inventive, radical, and intelligent ways of operating.

This will be an extremely dynamic 20 years where realism (Saturn) and optimism (Jupiter) will influence the very core of our societal and individual existences!

But not only is this a new 20 year cycle, these planets are going to cycle together for the next 200 years in Air signs.

Such a huge change in elemental cycle is referred to as a Great Mutation – we will change!

This is the beginning of a new age: think, a change from the Industrial Age (the element of Earth) to the Digital Age (the element of Air).

To prepare yourself, take a look at your natal chart and see which House Aquarius rules, and check which Houses Jupiter and Saturn will be transiting. This will give you an idea where these energies are going to shake your personal world: be prepared and start working on them now!

Revealing our ‘real’ resources: Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon in Scorpio.

Today at 2:14pm (AEST) we will be experiencing a Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon at 25°Scorpio.

This is the 2nd eclipse of the 2022 ‘eclipse season’ following the partial solar eclipse we had on 1st May when the New Moon occurred at 10°Taurus.

We will experience the reverse of these eclipses later on in the year when we have a Partial Solar Eclipse at 02°Scorpio on 25th October and the final eclipse for 2022 being a Total Lunar Eclipse at 16°Taurus on 8th November.

You can read more about this ‘season’ here and get a feel for the ‘Rites of Taurus’ of which this ‘season’ is about.

I say this as these eclipses occur in relationship with the lunar nodes which are currently in Taurus and Scorpio: with the North Node in Taurus indicating a pathway forward and the South Node in Scorpio revealing what is holding us back from taking the steps along this pathway.

In a way, the Nodes of the Moon reveal our evolutionary path, and by comprehending them, we can put an end to the mistakes we keep making in this lifetime!

Where the Nodes of the Moon sit in your birth chart will provide an indication as to how you can utilise this powerful energy to propel your growth and happiness in this incarnation.

With the Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse happening at 25° Scorpio conjunct the South Node of the Moon at 22°Scorpio, this should be an intense event.

I envisage this lunar event will bring to the surface of our awareness the deep seated Scorpio stuff that we need to review and challenge so that we can follow our pathway, unhindered, in comfort and assured in a contented, determined manner – committing in Taurus style to building our self-confidence and self-esteem.

Scorpio and Taurus can relate to resources: material, such as money and food; psychological, such as self-esteem, talents and skills.

This is the ‘flavour’ of the whole eclipse season – the resources we have and how we use them.

Quite simply, the South Node in Scorpio shows us what is hindering our growth at this point in humanity’s evolution, and the North Node in Taurus reveals how we can manifest a better future.

Here, during this Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio could reveal ourselves at our worst: possessive, controlling and manipulative.

In a way, Taurus is the ‘antidote’, being generous, creative, contented and above all, loving.

This Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse should therefore be a particularly transformative lunation through providing us with opportunities to see what emotions and behaviours no longer serve us well, especially as they relate to resources, and to plan* their removal/replacement with more positive behaviours that aid us on the pathway to Authenticity.

*I write ‘plan’ as we are still in a period of Mercury retrograde – plan now and take action from 3rd June!

I hope this Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse brings you a greater sense of personal fulfilment and a much more harmonious, loving life!
